5 TODAY S LOOSE OFFERING: Conference Faith Advance We have to be entirely dependent on God. While possessions and money are necessary for sustenance of life, God wants to make sure we understand where our resources come from and how they re to be used for His glory. Think about how the children of Israel had to forgive all debts and return land to its original owner during the jubilee years as a built-in provision for the poor. What an amazing reminder of the temporary nature of our existence on this earth. STEWARDSHIP SPOTLIGHT: Please contribute to the local annual sacrifice fund. Your resources are needed for insurance payments, property taxes, and church school subsidy. Thank you. Free breakfast: Each Sabbath morning starting at 8:30 we serve a good, healthy meal. All are welcome! To help, please see Shetia Davis. 3. Fellowship Dinner: Everyone is invited to stay and join us for a meal this afternoon following church service. We ask that all members participate by bringing a dish to share for potluck each week. Thank you. 4. Join the Church Choir! There is no rehearsal this afternoon, but we will be singing on Mother s Day Sabbath. 5. The Community Service Dept. is no longer accepting furniture donations for lack of room. However, we are in need of canned goods. Please help us stock our shelves back up. Thank you. 6. Seniors, friends, and caregivers are invited for a day filled with vital tools, resources, and speakers celebrating healthy aging. 8 Food of the Month: DANDELION Dandelion is a weed most gardeners would like to eradicate. But it s quite multi-talented every bit of the plant is edible! Young buds are tasty fried in butter. More than just a bright yellow garnish for soups and salads, dandelion flowers are also made into jellies, root beer, and teas. Dandelion is high in fiber; vitamins A, C, and K; and minerals iron, calcium, and potassium. It s also an antioxidant, diuretic, and fights liver disease, diabetes, and skin disease. Who knew? Loose Offerings April 2018 Sunset Times 7 Local Church Budget 7:25 14 World Budget (CRS) 7:31 21 Local Church Budget 7:37 28 Conference Faith Advance 7:43 DANDELION GREENS WITH A KICK Ingredients: 1 lb. dandelion greens, torn into 4 pieces; 2 tsp. salt; 2 Tbsp. olive oil; 1 Tbsp. butter; 1/2 onion, thinly sliced; 1/4 tsp. red pepper flakes; 2 cloves garlic, minced; salt & black pepper to taste; 1 Tbsp. parmesan cheese Directions: Soak greens in bowl of cold water with 1 tsp. salt for 10 minutes. Drain. Bring large pot of water to boil with 1 tsp. salt. Cook greens until tender, 3-4 minutes. Drain and rinse with cold water until chilled. Heat olive oil and butter in large skillet over medium heat; cook and stir onion and red pepper about 5 minutes. Stir in garlic for 30 seconds. Increase heat to medium-high and add greens. Continue to cook and stir until liquid is evaporated. Season with salt & pepper. Sprinkle with parmesan to serve. Enjoy!

12 8. The Great Controversy All humanity is now involved in a great controversy between Christ and Satan regarding the character of God, His law, and His sovereignty over the universe. This conflict originated in heaven when a created being, endowed with freedom of choice, in self-exultation became Satan, God s adversary, and let into rebellion a portion of the angels. He introduced the spirit of rebellion into this world when he led Adam and Eve into sin. This human sin resulted in the distortion of the image of God in humanity, the disordering of the created world, and its eventual devastation at the time of the worldwide flood. Observed by the whole creation, this world became the arena of the universal conflict, out of which the God of love will ultimately be vindicated. To assist His people in this controversy, Christ sends the Holy Spirit and the loyal angels to guide, protect, and sustain them in the way of salvation.
