Lady Chanel s Blog I m looking forward to the ALS Fashion Show fundraiser this afternoon. The wonderful Men of Metropolitan Baptist Church will be modeling their finest gear to raise money and awareness regarding ALS. I am truly grateful that so many would dedicate their time and effort for a battle that they do not have to help me fight. I truly could not have continued this battle without so many loving, kind, and wonderful people in my life. This battle is much too large to fight all by myself. Without amazing people in my life, this journey would be much harder. Most importantly, without God this journey would be too much to bare. God gives me hope to hold on each and every day. ALS is a tremendous battle, but knowing that I have a God that is bigger than any battle, keeps me going. Being a believer and being surrounded by believers has benefits. Today is open enrollment!! Don t wait until trouble shows up in your life to develop a relationship with the Lord. At this point in my life, I know that Jesus is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Thanks to everyone who is helping me to win this battle. #TheBattleIsNotYours

The Walk to Defeat ALS is The ALS Association s biggest annual event, which raises funds that allow our local chapters to sustain care services and support research for much of the next year. Come out and Support our very own Lady Chanel! Hallelujah Night Trunk or Treat Hallelujah Night this year will be sponsored by GS Troop #203 and MYE. Get ready for a night filled with food, fun and games! We will have face painting, picture booths, games and more. Wear your best costume and come prepared to have a good time. Don t forget, we will also have Trunk or Treat at the end of the festivities!!! Candy Donations are Greatly Appreciated!! 3 Calling All Men: The Mass & Transformation Choirs need a few good men. If you are interested in making a joyful noise for the Lord, please see Bro O Brian Hargrave. Media: The Media Ministry is looking for new members. If you are interested in learning sound, video or photography, please see any member of the media team. Prayer: Petersburg Transformational Prayer takes place every Wednesday for the month of October here at Metro from 1 2:30. All persons are invited to come and join in prayer. Concert: Gospel Music Workshop of America will be putting on a free concert here at Metro on Sunday October 29 at 3. This is open to the public. Please come back and support them and bring a friend! Budgets & Calendar: Budgets and Calendars are due at the November 1 st Leadership Meeting. Bible Bowl: All ministry leaders please come to the next leadership meeting with the names of 1 or 2 ministry members to participate in the first Metropolitan Bible Bowl. If you have any questions please see Sis Mosby. Military Ministry: There are still seats left for the trip to the African American Museum in DC on December 2. If you are interested please see Rev. Evans or Sis Beatrice Johnson. Military Ministry: The Military Ministry is sponsoring a drive for the Salvation Army Men s Shelter Wish List. The items they need are: Cups, Forks, Spoons, Cleaning Products, Toilet Paper & Serving Gloves. There will be donation boxes located in the vestibule and at the side door. Donations will be accepted until Military Appreciation Sunday which is November 12, Zumba: Zumba Classes will now be held every Monday and Tuesday at 6. Addiction & Recovery Ministry: Every Friday at 6:30. The CEM Ministry s Partners in Education will conduct an in-house, Church-wide Seminar on Saturday, November 11 from 9 am to 3. This Seminar has been designed to supplement the training program of all church ministries. The morning will begin with a Continental breakfast and opening remarks. Following breakfast, new members and seasoned members alike will benefit from the morning session topic with will discuss the history of the Baptist church and what Baptists believe. Following a delectable lunch, the afternoon session will deal with How to be a Great Leader, (In the home, Community, Church and the World) ALL MINISTRY LEADERS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND. Church members and aspiring leaders are urged to attend. All materials will be provided. See you on November 11. Dress Comfortably!

Are you going to merely live? Or are you going to live your dreams? These are questions that every woman must ask herself and answer at some point in life. If you haven t asked yourself these questions, now is the time. How you answer them will determine what the rest of your life will look like, starting today. The difference between merely living and living your dreams is greater than you think. Merely living includes behaviors like these: *Going through the motions without much thought or concern for the future *Getting through the day without carefully noticing how you spend your precious time *Trudging through each week and month without any joy or peace *Assuming you don t really have the power to change your life- --or your response to it Living your dreams includes much more intentional actions: *Taking the time to identify what God want you to do and then making plans to do it *Allocating your time in a way that helps you meet your needs as well as the needs of those around you *Embracing the joy and peace that a relationship with Christ offers *Acknowledging and addressing the issues that cause you pain *Learning how to let the Holy Spirit work in you and through you so you can live more abundantly Some people may say that circumstances determine whether you can live out your dreams, but I disagree. The difference is not in the circumstances. The difference is in the attitude. And the only difference between a positive attitude and negative attitude is deciding to choose one over the other. Extraordinary women decide that they will hold onto and live their dreams, regardless of their circumstances.
