2 Daily Devotionals and Conversation Each day (Monday through Friday), Pastor Jenn and Seth write a brief daily devotional that is sent out via . The scripture texts for these reflections are based on the daily lectionary, designed to tie in to and build upon the readings from the Sundays. If you'd like to receive these and are not currently, please send an to office@allsaintspalatine.org. We also have a conversational component for those who wish. You can also read the devotionals at Here, you can also leave comments either for the pastors or for other members and reflect back on what we've written. Join in the conversation and make the Bible a part of your daily life. During the season of Lent, beginning with Ash Wednesday, February 22, these devotionals will be written by members of All Saints. Bethel Lutheran Church Food Pantry Our sisters and brothers at Bethel Lutheran Church (3839 W Frontage Road in Rolling Meadows) have started a food pantry that works in conjunction with the Palatine Township Food Pantry. Bethel's pantry supplements what clients are able to get from the Township pantry. There are some opportunities for us to help. 1. Our donations from Thanksgiving Eve worship will be brought to Bethel for their "Exchange Table," where clients can trade for things in the standard bags. 2. Food pick-up: Drive to the Chicago Food Depository warehouse in Hoffman Estates on Thursday morning, and drive food to Bethel. On an occasional basis. 3. Pantry Shifts: Saturday mornings 8: On an occasional basis. If you want to be in touch about volunteering to pick up food on Thursdays or distribute food on Saturdays, contact Pastor Seth. 2
3 Holy Week Holy Week, the Triduum (the Three Days: Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil) and the celebration of new life and resurrection on Easter morning are the focal point of the whole church year. The week starts with Palm Sunday/Passion Sunday, April 1. We hear two Gospel stories this day: Jesus triumphant entry into Jerusalem and trial and death. Hearing these two stories in the same worship service makes the stark contrast of life and death, joy and sorry, very real for us. The Three Days unfold as a unified entity as the church passes together with Christ through death into life. We begin on Maundy Thursday, with Jesus giving a new command (mandatum) to Love one another. The altar is stripped at the end of this service just as Jesus body was stripped on the cross. We leave this place, but our worship continues on Friday as we mark the last hours and, ultimately, the death of Jesus. The Easter Vigil takes us the last bit of the journey through darkness into light. That light and life is celebrated in full on Easter morning, April 8. You are invited to make this week a special time for your family by participation in these worship experiences. Join us and the church around the world and throughout the centuries as we walk through death to life. Goodness is stronger than evil; love is stronger than hate; light is stronger than darkness; life is stronger than death; victory is ours through God who loves us. Goodness is Stronger than Evil, a hymn by Archbishop Desmond Tutu, ELW 721. Little Saints Preschool registration open for 2012/13 school year Our Little Saints Christian Preschool continues enrollment for the 2012/13 school year. We still have openings for children ages 2 to 4. (If your two or three-year old is still in diapers, that is ok.) All Saints church members receive a 10% discount off monthly tuition and scholarships are available. Little Saints has weathered the economic challenges well. Enrollment is strong. We currently have 46 children in our 2, 3 and 4- year olds classes. Many of them are siblings of older brothers and sisters that have graduated from Little Saints in earlier years. You can support Little Saints continued growth to by referring your family, friends and neighbors with little ones. To get a flavor for the event, visit Our contingent consists of: Meghan Bartos, Amy Berggren, Kristin Berggren, Becki Bolinger, Katie Bolinger, Riley Carlson, Megan Chernich, Patrick Fiedler, Garrett Garcia, Grayson Garcia, Jenna Goldenne, Amy Grasso, Philip Hansen, Anna Holowicki, Alex Johnson, Danny Johnson, Samantha Judd, Tara Kennedy, Debbie Lindstrom, Ayla Masrin, Jessica Masrin, Brittany Mata, Sam McEnery, Michael Mohr, Emily Stearney, Zach Stebbins, Allie Tassi, Danielle Tassi, and Maggie Tuckey.
