8 Resurrection Lutheran Church The Players November 4, Attendants: Heidi Barz, Linda Highman, Ray Schmitz, and Jerry Sharpe 1. Ray and Jeffery Wood will arrange to get together so that Jeffery can inform Ray how to deal with our web site. 2. Linda showed the informational piece for the New Year s Eve Party, and everyone made suggestions to improve it. The revised piece is attached. This will be e- mailed to churches that Linda contacts first with a phone call. She is using the church listing found in the Mid-County Memo and feels that there must be at least three other churches joining in this venture to make the whole notion a go. 3. The idea of chancel drama has the enthusiastic support of Troy. Jerry brought several script books that we looked at. We decided on using The State Versus The King of the Jews by Curt M. Joseph. Jerry will look into ordering this for use during Lenten season. If we do one every two weeks, and there are six, we would be performing during the months of March and April. 4. Next meeting on Friday, December 2 at 7 PM, Luther Lodge: New Year s Eve Party and rehearsal schedule for OCC fundraiser in March and chancel dramas in March and April. 8

9 Resurrection Lutheran Church Worship Ministry Team November 2016 Attending: Pastor Roger, Bill Lambert, Joyce Gibson, Kim Dougherty, Katie Petke and Troy Lutz. Pastor Roger opened with prayer. Business: Banners: The new banners and altar frontals were shown. Dowels have now been purchased for hanging them, and a free banner was sent in addition to what we ordered. It will be used at the Citizenship Sunday (Veteran s Day) service. All were purchased with funds from the Frances Tong memorial monies. Announcements: The number of announcement slides has now been reduced. Christmas: The Quempas Carol was discussed, several names were discussed as possible singers. Katie will approach them to see if they re available and interested. We will discuss it again at the December meeting and decide if we have the singers to pull it off well, otherwise it will be canceled for this year. Todd will need to be trained on how to do the organ part, choir will need to be stronger leaders for their part and the congregational part if we do it. Attendance: Attendance is up! Bill read off the attendance numbers from the last 4 weeks and the numbers have been steadily climbing, especially at the late service. People have noticed a change in attitude, too, members seem to be happy and enthusiastic. Reformation: The Reformation service was discussed, we were pleased with the special music and the lovely variety in the service. The overall feeling of the service was wonderful. All Saints: Candles were ordered for the memorials, should arrive Thursday. Roger shared the order of service, it was discussed and approved. We agreed that we should flip-flop Communion and the sermon at the early service this week so that the memorial candles don t have to burn so long. 9

10 Citizenship Sunday: We went through the order of service for this single-service event. A few adjustments were made, there is much enthusiasm for this special event! Thanksgiving service: The Thanksgiving service will be at 7pm on Wednesday, Nov 23, right after our annual Thanksgiving dinner. Pie potluck will follow the service. We need to remember to set up the Advent wreath after the service so that it s in place for the following Sunday, which is the first Sunday in Advent. Advent Decorating: It was decided that we will assemble the new Christmas tree after church ahead of time so it s in place before the decorating, which will be Nov 27 th at 6pm. Dinner included. Wonderful Wednesday: We will be taking a break during Advent, next WW session will be Jan 11 th through Feb 22. We will break again for Lent, it will decided later if we resume after Easter. Respectfully submitted, Kim Dougherty, Chair Next meeting: Tues Dec 6, 5pm 10
