2 From the Pastor s Pen God of grace, you sent us the promised gift of the Holy Spirit. Fill your church with power, kindle flaming hearts within us, and cause us to proclaim your mighty works, through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen. Dear Friends: It is coming to that me of year when school is back in session, summer vaca ons are memories, and back-to-church ac vi es draw us in. We have several events to look forward to. Saturday, September 8 th is a very special day as Hill-Fest returns. We will have inflatables, a rock climbing wall, fire and police vehicle displays, face pain ng, food trucks and music by our very own No Strings A ached and Redeemed. The event kicks off at 3 p.m. and runs through 7 p.m. Sunday, September 9 th will be a big day as well. We will gather under the outdoor tent for a great morning of worship followed by a church picnic. Our Choir and Redeemed will fill the air with great music as we start the fall season with a bang. Invite your friends and plan to a end September 8 th and 9 th for our Hill-Fest weekend. Mary Kate Barnes is our new Accompanist to provide music for the 9 a.m. tradi onal service and accompany the Sanctuary Choir. Mary Kate earned a Bachelor s Degree in Vocal Music Educa on from the University of Missouri at Columbia. She teaches music at Orchard Farm Elementary and serves as the District accompanist. Mary Kate is married to Julian and has two children: Brooklyn age 4 and Felix age 1. We look forward to Mary Kate joining us and sharing her gi of music. Her first day will be Sunday, August 5 drop by and say hello! The leadership of our Church Council is made up by the Trustee, Finance, Staff Parish and Nomina ons Commi ees. Our Council Chairperson is Paula Baldridge and our Lay Leader is Genie Hatch. United Methodist Women and the Men s Group both have representa on, and two of our youth also serve. It is that me of year when we fill open posi ons for each commi ee. Please pray for our Nomina ons Commi ee and consider your part when they call. Leaders are developed as we perfect our gi s and respond to new opportuni es. Our Church Council has led the congrega on with devoted service. I commend them for their leadership and look forward to the coming year. God bless us every one, Connections is published each month. Proceeds benefit our Youth Group Aluminum cans These items can be dropped in the receptacle at the west end of the church parking lot. Proceeds help the Caring and Sharing Food Pantry NEEDED! Operation Backpack Volunteers We re gearing up to provide weekend food packs through our Opera on Backpack Ministry for fragile families in the Wentzville School District Will you join the team? You work once a month to either pack, deliver, or pack and deliver It s easy, very rewarding, and you ll be working with some GREAT folks! 5 Mission Moment Disaster Response Team This is what we do... Storm damage Chainsaw and debris cleanup in Joplin MO DRT project in Mountain Grove MO, mudded/primed the drywall and replaced flooring in a bath/laundry (A) DRT built a deck & steps for rear entry of a home flooded in recent storms in Southwest MO (B) DRT built a deck for a church member (C) A B C We have addi onal DRT volunteers that work on local projects in the St Louis area for Salva on Army & St. Charles COAD (Community Organiza ons Ac ve and Disaster) The next DRT project will be the week of October 7th in Southwest MO to do repairs on homes that were damaged by floods over the past two years. We will depart the church on Sunday, October 7th and return on Friday, October 12th. We can always use addi onal volunteers. For addi onal informa on on DRT, please contact Rodger McQuate at
