Israelis begin praying for rain, saying v ten tal umatar in the daily berachah of Bareich aleinu, on the 7th of Cheshvan. In Toronto we only begin saying v ten tal umatar several weeks later, in the beginning of December. Authorities debate whether a non Israeli visiting Israel during the period between the two start dates should recite v ten tal umatar. Further, among those who rule to say v ten tal umatar while in Israel, there is debate regarding what to do upon returning to Toronto. Rabbi Korobkin recommends that such a person should begin saying v ten tal umatar in Israel, and continue to do so even when back in Toronto. One who is serving as Chazan must say aloud whatever the local minyan says. CHOLIM LIST New list starting Thursday, December 1st, 2016 Although we wish there were no names on it, the Shul s Cholim List allows us to offer Teffilot for those who require a Refuah Shlaima. However the list needs regular updating. So, at the beginning of each month we will be deleting existing names on the list and starting a new one, hopefully with fewer names. Please make sure to return any books you may have that belong in the Bais Medrash. DURING THE RABBI S DRASHA During the Rabbi s drasha, parents are requested not to allow their children to approach the Bimah for candies. Children are welcome to wish the Rabbi a Good Shabbos at other times. OUT OF THE COLD Our annual Out of the Cold program is taking place on December 28th. BAYT will be serving a full hot meal to homeless people at Temple Har Zion. Volunteers are needed to cook a small part of the meal in advance. This can be done from the comfort of your own kitchen and then brought along to Temple Har Zion on December 28th. We are also looking for volunteers to help serve the food and clean up after the meal.
