Nagar Miscreants are stealing bulbs along with the domes atop lamp-posts in the Corporation Park on Lake View Road in Nesapakkam. According to the watchman, one was stolen on July 1 night. Another was stolen on June 29 night. Two of the 7 lamp-posts have no bulbs now. Earlier bulbs in 23 ornamen- tal lights installed along the walkers path around the lawn were stolen. Miscreants had also damaged the light-posts and the fence around the lawn. The park is being maintained by a private contractor. The watchman told Mambalam Times that some parts like condenser and wire were found abandoned in the park on July 2 morning. Youths snatching chains using stolen bikes nabbed S. Manibala (22) and M. Imran Sheriff (24), who used stolen motorcycles to indulge in chain snatching in K. K. Nagar, MGR Nagar, Pondy Bazaar and West Mambalam areas, were arrested by Ashok Nagar police on June 27. A special team had been formed to investigate the spate of chain snatchings. When the team stopped the two in Ashok Nagar during a routine check, they could not produce the documents relevant to the 2-wheeler they were riding and gave contradictory statements when questioned. When they were detained and interrogated further they confessed to having snatched chains from women. They also admitted that they had stolen motorcycles from Pallikaranai and Velachery. Police later recovered gold jewellery and motorcycles totally worth Rs. 8 lakhs from them. The accused were produced in a city court which remanded them to judicial custody.

SADANAND Don t you feel that chaps like Ram Dev can t be allowed to flaunt their torso to the brink of nudity in public, even while inviting gods to be one up on the PM and the Supreme Court?
