1 CHILDREN S sabbath with special guest mark burrows OCTOBER 28, 2018
2 THE WEEKLY WORD A special message from Kate Flint, our Director of Children's Ministries, and Sabrina Salisbury, our Director of Bridge Ministries. Sometime around 1989, my family visited Christ Church for the first time. My brother and I were in a particularly wiggly stage of life, and my parents struggled to keep us quiet. An older lady turned around and Mom was sure we were about to be shushed. But she smiled kindly and told my mom, You are doing just fine they re right where they ought to be. One of the greatest gifts my parents ever gave me was raising me in church. I look at our congregation now and I treasure the relationships I have with people who knew me when who invested in my faith as teachers, mentors, and friends. As each new generation comes into our church family, we all have the opportunity to live out our vows to raise up these kids in our shared faith. When we come together to praise the Lord, we are all right where we ought to be! I have to admit that I enjoy stories that describe Jesus as being indignant. One of those stories is in Mark 10, when children are being kept from coming to Jesus. Jesus went on to say that, "anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a child will never enter it. I second the words of the sweet woman in Kate s word above that the children are right where they ought to be. I believe that we can learn from the children in the pews next to us. Perhaps their energy and eagerness can remind us of the posture we are to take toward God in worship and service and that Jesus is ready to take us in his arms if we only come to him.
