5 Traditional W O R S H I P Time is a funny thing. We have just passed into a new year, yet it s just another day. There is something compelling about the idea of starting over or beginning anew. In a way, Epiphany is a kind of new beginning as well. An epiphany is that moment when the light goes on! We see something we ve never seen before. Something brand new has dawned on us. Epiphany, January 6th, celebrates the revelation of Jesus to the world as the Son of God. The visit of the Magi was that demonstration to the world. It focuses on the epiphany to the Jewish nation that Jesus came to be the Savior of all peoples and nations. The star and light are symbols of this event as noted in the opening music of worship today. This momentous event, the entrance of God in human flesh into the world, is what we celebrate in worship.
