Frederick Kaplan LA nd collection this week Noah Cantrell / Family Mission Hi my name is Noah, I am from Nunez, Louisiana and I grew up in a Catholic family and was homeschooled all the way through high school. After my confirmation and graduation I felt like God was calling me to go to be a missionary so in September of 2013 I joined Family Missions Company. After the three month training I was sent to Ecuador where I spent my first year in missions serving the poor. After a year in Ecuador I went to Peru for almost all of 2015 to do more Catholic missionary work. After Peru I came home to have surgery on my back. During this time I got into contact with Kyle Baudoin who asked if I would be willing to help out with the Life Teen Core, I have been helping out with Life Teen since then when I haven't been working with short term mission trips for Family Missions Company. During the past year and a half I have been feeling like God was calling me back to missions to Taiwan and serve the people there. In Taiwan the population of Christians is about 4% so there is a lot of work to be done. He was born on September 26, But if you look on his tombstone in the Cathedral, you will see his birthdate marked August 15, The first time that Jeanmard claimed his birthday was August 15 the Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady was on the day after his consecration as bishop in He offered a Mass of Thanksgiving at the Shrine of Our Lady of Prompt Succor in New Orleans, and as he spoke to the nuns and the Ursuline Academy students, he apparently decided to change his birthday. Centennial Fest Honoring our Diocesan Centennial with our young people throughout the Diocese of Lafayette, we will have a Youth Gathering at Parc International Downtown Lafayette on Saturday, October 20th from 3pm to 8pm and will include Music, Guest Speakers, Mass, Food and closing with a Candlelight Eucharistic Adoration with Bishop Deshotel. Our Youth, All Youth Groups, Families, Clergy and Religious are invited. Please mark your calendars now. This will be a great opportunity to see the Life of Our Faith. Admission will be free (food for purchase will be available). 2

3 Ministry of the Week Prayer Blanket Ministry Mrs. Ruby Duhon The prayer blanket is a crocheted lap-ghan. Prayers are said with every stitch. The colors usually represent the illness. It measures 40 x 52 with an insert of a cross. Example: For bone cancer the cross would be yellow with a purple background. After the blanket is completed is it folded, wrapped with a ribbon and accompanied by a prayer card. Then brought to be blessed by Fr. Mark or Fr. Nick. The blanket is usually requested by a friend or family member. It is not sold but a donation to help pay for supplies is appreciated. Once the recipient receives the blanket PLEASE unwrap it and use it. My name is Ruby Duhon and I make prayer blankets. My phone number is (337) if you would like to place an order. Reminder if there is anyone who can not attend Mass due to an illness are disability. Please notify the office, and someone will bring Communion to them.
