Two people in the Gospel say this to Jesus with a but statement following it. I will follow you, but first, let me do this seems to be a common response to Jesus. In today s Gospel, Jesus tells His would-be followers that as Christians it is all or nothing with God. As Jesus reminds us, we are called to love God with our whole heart, mind, and soul. This past Tuesday, Archbishop Lori kicked off the annual Fortnight for Freedom at the Basilica. These 14 days of prayer bring to mind our religious liberty, and our religious freedom, and the many ways in which it is threatened. Give God your heart, mind, and soul this week as you take some time this week to pray with Catholics across the country. 2 From The Pastor Dear St Isaac Jogues family, I am excited to tell you that we have been notified that the Archbishop will be returning to our parish on August 14th to install me as pastor at the 9:00 AM Mass! Please, if possible, mark your calendars as it would be terrific if you could attend this Mass. Also, this Tuesday at 7:00 PM we will be blessing our statue of St. Kateri as she is enshrined in the Kateri youth room. All are welcome and encouraged to be part of this beautiful ceremony! We have some openings left, so don t delay in registering. July will be here before we know it! Forms are available on the bulletin board in the church vestibule or go to the parish website ( Call if you have any questions. FAITH FORMATION REGISTRATION: Please register NOW for the year. Forms are available on the parish website or stop by the Faith Formation Office. We will begin the year with an opening Mass on September 18, at 9:00 AM. Classes will begin at 10:10 AM following the Mass. Liturgy Corner What is the purpose of the Mass: Adoration? God is truly an amazing God! He is our Creator, and the Lord of the whole world. As Catholics, we believe that God is truly present in the Eucharist. So, when we attend Mass, we are truly in the presence of God. The Holy Mass gives us an opportunity to praise and thank God for all that He has done for us. However, God is not just present in the Eucharist. John s Gospel begins with, In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Throughout the readings, God is also present in the Word. This is why we have songs of adoration throughout the Mass (Gloria, Sanctus Holy, Holy, Holy) as a way to join with the angels and saints in heaven as we praise God for His love and mercy.

5 Upcoming Events and Information EUCHARISTIC ADORATION is offered every Tuesday of each month, from 9:30 until 4:00 PM in the Seton Chapel (Cronin Center). During the summer (JUNE-SEPTEMBER), First Friday Eucharistic Adoration is from 9:30 AM 12:00 NOON. Come, spend some quiet time with the Lord. The deadline for the weekly bulletin is Monday at 5:00 PM. Please notices to Liz Zongker at ATTENTION! Parish Offices will be CLOSED for the Independence Day holiday on Monday, July 4. Mass will be held at 9:00 AM in the church. SPECIAL INVITATION! On Sunday, August 14, at 9:00 AM, Archbishop Lori will celebrate the Mass of Installation for our Pastor, Fr. Steven Roth. Following the Mass, there will be a reception in the hall. All are invited to attend. NEED HELP? If you are not seated in a handicapped accessible pew and would like to have communion brought to your seat, please notify an usher before Mass and they will be happy to accommodate your request. Also, if you or a family member needs assistance getting from your car to the church, please let us know ahead of time so that someone can be available to lend a hand. We hope that they will come to find peace and joy as they become active members of our worship community. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. ST. VINCENT DE PAUL: When school stops for the summer, so do breakfast and lunch programs for children of families in need. Please think about kids who may be hungry this summer when you shop this week. Kids love cold drinks, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, crackers, cookies, pancakes, syrup, pop tarts, and healthy snacks. You are the hands of Christ in our neighborhood. YOU RE INVITED, on Tuesday, June 28, to celebrate the installation of the statue of St. Kateri in the Kateri Room at 7:00 PM. Join the high school youth ministry program in night prayer and a blessing of the statue as she moves to her new home. All are invited to attend. The next BAPTISM PARENT PREPARATION CLASS will be held on Wednesday, June 29, at 7:00 PM in the Cronin Center. Parents are encouraged to attend even before the birth of their child. ATTENTION CASSEROLE BAKERS: Pans are available outside the vesting room. Please bring frozen casseroles to the church during weekend Masses or to the Cronin Center during weekday office hours. Please label pans for ODB or Beans and Bread. Beans and Bread casseroles will be delivered on Tuesday, July 5. Our Daily Bread casseroles will be delivered on Thursday, July 14. HAITI SISTER PARISH: June 14 was the final day of classes at Notre Dame, St. Anthony the Hermit s elementary school. Over 600 children will spend their summer days with their families, but they will hardly be carefree. Nearly all families engage in farming. Water needs to be carried for every need; gardens and livestock must be tended. Everyone must do his or her part in the quest for daily bread. With unskilled labor paying only about $3.50 daily when work can be found. Nothing is easy for our brothers and sisters in Chenot, not even in summer.

7 Upcoming Events and Information continued... WOMEN S CARE CENTER (WCC) is a Catholic, prolife pregnancy resource center that recently opened at 7621 Belair Road. They love and serve moms and babies by providing free pregnancy tests, free sonograms, free ongoing counseling and parenting classes. Archbishop Lori wrote, The Women s Care Center recognizes the God-given dignity of women in need and responds with the love and compassion of Jesus Christ. WCC is 100% privately funded. While here, I hope to update you monthly on fruits and reflections throughout my year. On Thursday, June 2, I moved into the rectory at St. Mark s Fallston to begin my pastoral year! These past two weeks have been filled with many blessings. I have already sat in on a meeting with a couple preparing for marriage, served at a powerful funeral, cooked dinner, organized the kitchen cabinet, attended a staff meeting, met tons of parishioners at the parish picnic and prayed and reflected with high schoolers at Lifeteen. I have also given two reflections during daily mass. I cannot express to you the fullness of my gratitude for all of the support you have shared with me as I departed SIJ for my pastoral year. I feel as though I have a family to come back to and the prayers to support me throughout my journey. Please pray for me as I continue to learn, grow, and discern God s will in my life!
