She was able to come home on Thursday. Pray that this break may heal well. Pastor Bernie D (13) had hip replacement surgery this past Monday. Everything went very well and he is presently recuperating at home. Arend S (13) has not been well for some time because he has cancer of the liver. As you can imagine this is tough for him and for his wife, Olga, who is confined to a nursing home and has her own health issues. Pray for God s strength to carry them through these rather trying times also as they are apart from one another. Hank and Rosario S, volunteering with Resonate Global Mission in Guatemala, have returned from Guatemala and will be in Kitchener until August 19. We welcome them back and pray for blessings on their time here. Congratulations to Colton and Candice H (13) who were united in marriage yesterday, Saturday July 28, May The Lord grant them much joy and His blessing as they go forward in life together. On July 13, 2018, Mr. Luke J passed away in his 78th year after a short illness. Mr. J (Luke) has served as a former principal of Laurentian Hills Christian School and therefore is known by many in this community. We extend our condolences to his wife, Helen, and his extended family. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, July 17 at Hope CRC in Brantford. Trevor B (3) completed his time with the Calvin Seminary DIG program this week.

5 Aioub and Mairi G (Jessica, Sam, Jihan, Jasmine) (6) have moved. Alan and Sharon B (3) have updated their address. Please continue to pray for: those who are shut-in and/or unable to worship with us on a regular basis because of various health issues; Sandra K (1) at Freeport Hospital as she recovers from her stroke; those dealing with depression and other forms of mental illness; those dealing with cancer, its treatment and effects: those dealing with broken relationships; those who are unemployed or underemployed; the Worship Coordinator Search Team as they continue to search for a full-time worship coordinator; Anthony and Barbara P with Daystar Ministries on Manitoulin Island; the persecuted Church; the Ministries and the Leadership of our congregation Congratulations to the following members celebrating a birthday in the coming week: July 29 John H (6) August 1 Olga S (11) May they experience the Lord s presence as they mark their respective birthdays. STAFF INFORMATION Donna V is on vacation from July 25 August 14. While she is away, Sarah G will be looking after things in the office. Sarah will be in the office on a part-time basis and her hours will be flexible. Pastor John Medendorp will be on vacation from August 6 August 20. Community CRC is seeking a full-time worship coordinator. 6 Our offering today is for Waterloo Campus Ministry. Our church has long supported ministry at Wilfrid Laurier University and the University of Waterloo. Rev. Brian Bork continues to work as the chaplain involved in such programs at Fermented Faith, Friday Night Dinner, and the Collective Kitchen. Connections with students remain a priority as he shares the Good News of Christ on these campuses. For more information go to: Next week our offering is for Birthright. Birthright has been providing love and support for over 50 years to women facing unplanned pregnancies with centres across Canada and the United States, and in Africa, as well as a 24/7 North American tollfree Helpline. COMMUNITY CHURCH NEWS From the CCRC go! Steering Committee: Dear congregation, our last communication to you indicated that we expected that the CCRC go! project would begin sometime in early August. We are pleased to let you know that things are still tracking to that timeline. Very soon you will start to see things happening around the church in preparation for the larger construction effort. For example, a tree was recently removed as well as some necessary tree trimming was completed. Preparations for a new sprinkler system are underway and water and gas lines will be relocated shortly. Lastly, the back parking area by the gym will be fenced off shortly and unavailable for parking. Although we are happy that this revised timeline is still on track, we recognize this was not the original timeline we had planned for raising questions about impact to our fall/winter programs. This revised timeline will have little impact on our programming for the upcoming season and we will be sure to communicate with ministry leaders as well as staff on what will be happening when so that everyone can make the most informed decisions. We will continue to provide updates such as these in the bulletin as necessary. Administrative Council Meeting Bulletin Highlights July 24, 2018 Agnes B was welcomed to Council as the Deacon s liaison on Council. Ed H (the new Chair) outlined his goals and aims for Council meetings. Reviewed and discussed the final chapter of How to Choose a Translation For All It s Worth on Bible translations. The Admin Council will be sending a letter to the denominational Council of Delegates to clarify our expected deliverables of a recently adopted overture by Synod re: recommended Bible translations. Received for information and reviewed various staff and ministry reports and minutes. There will be MANDATORY Safe Church and AODA training that must be attended by ALL ministry leaders and volunteers again this year. See note elsewhere in bulletin.

7 A dessert evening is being planned for faith formation ministry leaders and Council in an ongoing effort to familiarize Council and the various ministries leadership. Received an update on the go! Build project and it appears activity will be commencing soon. See note elsewhere in the bulletin. An office-bearer retreat is being planned for Saturday November 10, The search for a Worship Coordinator is ongoing and applicants are being received. Next Classis Huron meeting is September 19, 2018 in Collingwood. Church Camping: You are all welcome to come to Wildwood Conservation Area in St. Mary s, Ontario from August 3-6 for church camping. Group B has been reserved which has hydro and water hookup available. Come for the whole weekend, just a night, or even to visit for the day. No need to sign up. Just come. We hope to have a good size group out again this year! For more information contact Nicole M. Due to church camping and the Civic long weekend there is no coffee scheduled for Sunday, August 5. If you would like to volunteer for that Sunday, your help would be greatly appreciated. Please let the church office know at or office@ccrc.on.ca. Fall Retreat is taking place from Friday, September 28-Sunday, September 30 at Muskoka Woods. Students entering Grades 9-12 are encouraged to attend this great weekend of worship and fellowship. New this year: instead of receiving a subsidy to offset the registration cost, those monies will be used to provide transportation to and from the retreat. If the cost of registration is problematic, financial support is available. Go online to fallretreat.ca to register. Print off the pages, write a cheque and mail everything to the Trillium League contact as instructed on the registration page.
