3 June has arrived, summer is here! With summer we will have the Port Huron to Mackinac sailboat race then in August we will have the 150 mile long Yard Sale Trail, which will feature all kinds of stuff to buy from Marine City to Port Austin on August 14, 15 and 16. Our Deacons are planning to participate in this year s Yard Sale Trail on Friday, August 14 and Saturday, August 15, but not on Sunday, August 16. This church building is a house of prayer and Sunday we worship God. Their plans include renting individual plots on our church property, on these plots people can sell items to the public traveling the Yard Sale Trail. People who do not own property on Lakeshore Road and have things to sell might find our church property a good place to offer their products to the throngs of people driving on Lakeshore Road. Oddly enough, while people travel on Lakeshore Road during the Yard Sale Trail, one of the most sought after items is restrooms, not many of the homes with items for sale are willing to let strangers enter their homes to use the restroom. For two days, Friday and Saturday, we will invite travelers to come onto our property to buy from vendors and to use our rest facilities. The Mission of Lakeshore Presbyterian Church is to seek God s will, serve by Christ s example and share God s love with all people. Offering our handicap accessible restrooms to people driving by on Lakeshore is one way we can serve by Christ s example and share God s love with all people. We ll be providing an important service while utilizing two of our greatest assets: our location on Lakeshore Road and the love of our Church Family. For the Yard Sale Trail we will likely have on our sign or on banners a message such as, Clean handicap accessible restrooms, Welcome. The reason the Deacons want to participate in this year s Yard Sale Trail is not to make money, but to welcome guests to our property and then invite them to church. We have to keep our mission front and center. Our purpose never is to make money; it is to share Jesus Christ. Once guests come onto our property whether to peruse items on sale or to use our restrooms, we will try to greet them and invite them to worship God at Lakeshore Church. Our Daily Bread is the meditation guide that our Deacons offer free of charge to anyone who wants it. For Thursday, May 28 the meditation presents a very clever riddle. What is greater than God--and more evil than the devil? The poor have it. The rich need it. And if you eat it you will die. The answer is NOTHING! For sure nothing is greater than GOD. We have the most important task in life: to help people know and serve GOD. The beauty of knowing Jesus Christ is that eternal life follows. Jesus said, My sheep hear my voice. I know them and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. Let us take every opportunity to invite people to hear about eternal life through Jesus Christ. Nothing is greater than God. God has blessed Lakeshore Church with a wonderful location, and a house of prayer in which we worship and serve God. Lakeshore is blessed in all seasons. The Christian Education Committee invites you to Go DEAP. DEAP (Drop Everything and Pray) will take place every Monday. Wherever you are at 10am or 7pm, please pause for 15 minutes to read the devotion of the day from Our Daily Bread located on the table outside of Pastor Bill s office. Session Action from April 14 Session approved Joyce Snyder and Nancy Eichberger as members to Lakeshore Presbyterian Church Fort Gratiot. Session approved Bill s travel plans for the week of April 19th as stated and support him in his travels. Session completed Pastor Bill s 6 month Evaluation. Shelly Harris s resignation as pianist for her move to Indiana was accepted. Session reinstated Elizabeth Roe as full time pianist playing weekly and for the Choir. The Easter envelope offering received was designated for One Great Hour of Sharing. Session approved paving the parking lot. The Lexan covering for the lighted sign in front of the Church was approved to be replaced. A Sexual Misconduct policy for Lakeshore Presbyterian Church Fort Gratiot as required for all churches by the Book of Order has been approved. The flower chart needs you! Please sign up for any special occasion or just because. If you write the reason for the flowers on the chart it will be put in the bulletin. Please pay $25 for each Sunday that you sign up for and you are welcome and encouraged to take the flowers home with you or take them to someone. On the Sundays that no one signs up, Rhovelltos has been generous enough to donate them. On those Sundays the Deacons will take the flowers to a shut in or someone who needs the cheer. Bible study, "The Way" by Adam Hamilton, meets on Wednesdays at 10:30am at The Village of Lake Huron Woods (Media Room), 5221 Lakeshore Rd. The study includes watching a DVD with open discussion. Members, friends and neighbors are welcome to join us. You gave $380 to the Pentecost Offering on May 24. All of this offering goes to help children and youth. $ of the $ will stay in our church to help children and youth in our area. You care about children and youth. With this offering you have helped them. Thank you!
