1 June 2018 ENVISION THE BEST TRINITY CONNECTIONS The task is difficult, but that does not mean it is impossible. The challenge is complicated yet somewhere, somehow a solution can be crated. The news is troubling but that does not mean the world is falling apart. I say, Look Up, Look Forward, and see the positive possibilities. Stop to think about how life has changed over the years; how Trinity has changed; how your community has changed, how the church has changed. I have had the privilege to be a pastor for 43 years and the church is far different today than it was when I accepted my first call to Augustana Lutheran in West St. Paul. In those days many wives did not work out of the home, Wednesday was seen in the community as church night, families ate meals together and athletic events were not on weekends; not so any more. Life seems to be changing faster than we can handle. Recently, I was doing a home visit with a member family. The discussion centered on the pressures of life jobs, kids, sports, marital relations and more. I asked them if they remembered the children s rides that were once outside stores. You put a quarter in one and your child got to ride for a length of time and then the ride stopped. You decided if you wanted to put another quarter in the machine. My point was we have time for what we give priority to in our lives. The church council has begun reading an excellent book, Simple Church, and will be using it to create a working ministry plan for Trinity. It is the council s desire to have this document ready for the congregation to approve in early The early church grew as the followers of Jesus worshiped together, ate together, prayed together, served together and fellowshipped together. Trinity has far more reason to be hopeful, positive and enthusiastic about its future. Let us dare to have faith in the good things we can do, in the goodness we can inspire and act on hat faith. You create your future from the way you see it, so envision the best, and give your best to make it so. Looking forward to seeing you and your guest in worship! Pastor Ralph

President s Corner-Rose Kuebker Greetings, The church council has started their journey and reflection with the book Simple Church. In our first chapter we agreed that we thought our church was complex. We could relate to the fictional character, Pastor Rush, who was overbooked and in constant motion, along with the ministry teams. To get through the complexity, the team noted we need to: - Communicate openly - Reflect on changes - Prioritize Another question posed in the chapter asked: Why is it so hard to see the big picture of ministry? Reflective answers noted: - Ego s get in the way of focused direction - Lack of connectedness from one to ministry to another Lastly, we shared thoughts on: What do you think is required to design a process for church ministry? - Start with a foundational strength of our church: Worship Next month we will explore the concept of Process, its importance, and how a ministry process can help us eliminate some things. In closing reflection Pastor Ralph shared some insight given from the Optimists club meeting and speaker Patti Wetterling, sharing 11 things people can do to nurture a culture: 1. Be Fair 2. Be kind 3. Be understanding 4. Be honest 5. Be Thankful 6. Be a Good Sport 7. Be a Good Friend 8. Be Joyful 9. Be Generous 10. Be Gently with others 11. Be Positive I invite to the Optimists thinking as we continue through change. Rose Tuesday Community Dinner There will not be a July Tuesday Community Supper.
