1 The Grapevine Trinity Anglican Church September 2010 Worshiping God as disciples of Jesus; showing love to our neighbours near and far. Dear Friends, September...a wonderful time of year. A time to get back into a routine...a time to make plans for the winter, a time to thank God for a wonderful summer of sunshine and heat! For the first time in many years there is a planning calendar on my refrigerator...my grandsons are busy and I need to know when my house guests are coming and going. I bet you have one on your fridge too! In this September edition of The Grapevine you will notice that there is a lot of activity at Trinity this fall...so get out your calendar while you re reading so you can make a note of things you re interested in attending. New to our church family? Not to worry because on September 26 th after the 10am service we will be having a Ministry Fair and you can find out all about the interesting things going on at Trinity. Add 15 minutes to your church time that Sunday so you can learn more about what is happening at Trinity and how you can get involved. I know whenever I have been new to a neighbourhood or even after being there a long time, I have meet some of the nicest people at church events...and it is even more fun to participate! Our God is an awesome God...come and find out for yourself! Rev Andrea Naming ceremony for Noah Plante, Sunday, June 6 th. Parents Kelley and Jeremy, and big brother, Cedric, look on. 2 2 TREASURER S LOOKING CORNER. Summary of Trinity s Operating Fund at the end of August 2010: Income $138,000 Expenses $152,000 It is normal for offerings to increase after the Summer hopefully this year will be no exception. The Campaign in May and June generated $3,700 to reduce this year s predicted deficit. The usual Record of Offering will be issued to all shortly after the last Sunday in September. -David Wilson. LOOKING FORWARD TO FROSTY S FAIR It s not too soon to look forward to Trinity's annual Christmas bazaar on Saturday, November 6 th from 9:30 am. to 2:00 p.m. How can you take part? Let me set out the ways... Do you have any items for the the ATTIC TREASURES TABLE? People buy gifts for friends and family here as well as treasures for themselves. Nancy Bassam ( ) will tell you about the items she needs. Chris Garnett ( ) is now collecting any jewellery you have for the JEWELLERY TABLE. The BOOK NOOK needs books, CDs, Videos, DVDs. These books have to be ones you or someone in your family enjoyed reading no old text books or sets of encyclopedia. There is lots of time to make pickles, jams and jellies for the PRESERVES TABLE. Love to sew or knit? Eleanor Corbett ( ) is looking for sweaters, hats, scarves, all kinds of knitted clothing and toys for the KNITTING TABLE. The COZY CRAFTS TABLE is the most festive table at the bazaar. Let Marjorie Bushnell ( ) know if you can sew, embroider, quilt things for this table. Let Nancy Burwash ( ) know what items you can donate for the SILENT AUCTION. She is making up the auction table now. Do you have items for the SECRET ROOM where children can buy presents for family and friends, or items for the kid's favourite, the FISH POND? Kids can do Christmas crafts in the GINGERBREAD ROOM.
3 3 Sugar plums, Christmas cake, chocolate brownies, pies and more... the BAKE TABLE is everyone's favourite stop and needs tonnes of treats so the table isn't bare before lunch time. And speaking of Lunch, there's an adults' and a children's menu again this year. SO WHAT CAN YOU DO FOR FROSTY S FAIR? Mark Saturday, November 6 th on your calendar. Make and/or donate items for sale. Bake, bake, bake! Help set up and decorate for the bazaar. Help clean up afterward. Help to prepare lunch. COFFEE AND FELLOWSHIP Thanks to everyone who hosted our coffee and fellowship hour following Sunday morning services during the past year particularly Brenda Small for co-ordinating and making it possible: Kay and Sandra Miles; Alex Adkins-Langen, Michelle Adkins and John Langen; Jill and Cameron Metcalf; Audrey Graham and Chris Garnett; Jody Mason and Eli MacLaren; Sue Cherry and Carmen Christian; Judy Chamberland; the Clarke family; Lisa McGillivray and Evan Baker; members of ACW; L.A. 5 5 TRINITY PARISH PICNIC In spite of the un-june-like weather, everyone had a great time at this year s parish picnic in Bender Hall!
