Then enjoy games, bouncy houses, and foods. What a fun and safe way to celebrate fall!

2 Comments from Jeremy It is an exciting (and anxious) time for the Sardinia Church of Christ, as we begin our search for a Senior Pastor. Words cannot express how thankful we are for the nearly 37 years of service we were blessed with Kevin Hamilton, and the way the Lord blessed us during his ministry. We want to keep you informed as much as possible about our search. The leadership team has put together a church profile, job description, and financial package for applicants to see. This information has been and is being distributed currently. There will be an open window for the time being in which the church will be receiving applications and resumes. In the meantime a search committee has been formed. Scott Mays, Joe Etienne, Justin Conley, Robby Ballmeyer, Cassandra Juillerat, and Lisa Boling make up the search team. They will begin reviewing resumes as they come in and will interview candidates of their choosing. This search committee will make their recommendation(s) to the Board of Elders, who will have the final decision on which candidate to present to the church. The leadership team will present one candidate to the church, and this person will have an opportunity to visit and preach to the congregation. Following this service a vote will be held affirming the choice. A candidate must receive 75% of the vote in order to be confirmed. We believe the entirety of this process will take around 6 months to complete, though the leadership team will be open to it happening quicker and will not rush should it take longer. I ask that you continue to pray for the Lord s will to take place in this process. If you have not done so yet, there are still prayer guides available at the Welcome Center. I know we will continue to serve alongside one another as I have always been amazed by this congregation s generosity and servant s heart and know that God will use those gifts to glorify HIS NAME! 3 Student Ministry News Questions? Please contact Facebook page: I m going to let you in on a minister s secret in case you didn t suspect or already know. Sometimes as we try to decide what to preach on, or what to include in our message, we do have members in mind at times. Sometimes in a good context, sometimes in a context where we really hope they are paying attention. As uncomfortable as that might be, especially if in a rebuking sense, Jesus preached with his present audience in mind. Paul wrote to churches with their specific issues in mind and the individuals in mind. There is always a temptation to preach with specific people in mind, and we do so with hope. Hope that what is said is heard and leads those people to change in a way they may find fulfillment in God. There are a lot of things I could preach about with students; actually an endless list of things. As generations come and go there seems to be even more added to that endless list. As much as I would like to address the million things students are facing, there are never enough Sundays, even if the students came every week. I really do have to fight the temptation to address everything. To not let temporary circumstances control what God has given me the privilege to do; preach His message. Resisting the temptation to weaponize passages of the bible to help is incredibly difficult and necessary. The truth is the larger message is the one we need to focus on sharing and everything else will come into focus. When we lose focus on that main message then we can t make any permanent and real change. When we lose focus on the message, that God sent His Son to die for us so we may have a life here guided by Him and a eternal life with Him, then nothing will change. When we share the gospel, everything else falls into place. Everything in your life has to change. Joe

4 What s Happening Here at Church? Every week plates are set out for a free will offering of a dollar. At the end of the month the money collected is given to someone in the community in need. Church members can recommend someone who has been hit with difficult times. Application forms are available at the Welcome Center or on our web page at sardiniacc.com under Our Ministries/The Dollar Difference. Getting involved can make a dollar difference for someone! Fitness Activities At 6:30 p.m. every Monday classes in Zumba Tone and every Wednesday classes in Zumba will meet. However, both evenings the church building will be unlocked for those who wish to walk inside or outside. (The track is available for use at any time.) Each session costs $2 per person. Euchre Night at the church on Friday, October 5th from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Come and enjoy a fun time of fellowship. Friendly Circle Meeting on Wednesday, October 10th at 7:00 p.m. We will be planning the April 2019 meeting of the Area Christian Women s Fellowship to be hosted here at the church and ladies are needed to assist with the planning. 5 What s Happening Here at Church on October 7th? Lots! Seniors Fall Festival October 7th from noon to 4:00 p.m. Please invite your friends and join us for an afternoon of food, games, and fun. There will be a quilt show, judging for cakes, pies, quilts, crochet/knitting, artwork, crafts and a pumpkin decorating contest. Games include a ring toss, bowling, bean bag toss, and a fish bowl toss. How about popcorn, candy apples, hot dogs and corn dogs for foods?! Everything is free! 6 More of What s Happening Here at Church on October 7th and 8th! Small Groups begin at 6:00 p.m. on October 7th For 6 weeks each small group will be studying from the book of Acts. Don t miss out. September 30th is the last day to sign up online, on our app, or with a sign up sheet at the Welcome Center. Prayer Meeting on Sunday, October 7th Meet at the church at 6:00 p.m. for a time set aside for prayer for our families, for this church, for our community, for our state, for our nation, and for our individual needs. We ll be praying for protection from Satan and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms and against the spirits of bondage/addiction, unbelief, pride, and fear operating in our country. Then we can experience first hand the strong arm of God and His Spirit moving through our land. To God be the glory! Amen. Women s Bible Study At 6:30 p.m. we ll be meeting on October 8th and October 22nd. This is an open forum and an in-depth study of the Bible which is open to all women. Forward in Faith 18 Capital Campaign Status as of September 23rd 18 Amount Received Amount Remaining is $24, is $257, If you would like to participate in this Building Fund Campaign, please use the Building Fund envelopes on the back of the pews. Suggested donations for October are coloring books, flip flops, and your empty shoe boxes. Please note we are in need of wash cloths, ball point pens, and pencil sharpeners. THANK YOU Sardinia s Our shelves are nearly bare! We need Hamburger/Tuna Helper, Pasta Sauce, Spaghetti, Peanut Butter, Jelly, Crackers (saltines), Boxed Mashed Potatoes, Pork & Beans. Currently we are well stocked on Canned Vegetables and Fruit.

8 Special Opportunity You are invited to the Project Linus Workshop on Saturday, October 13th, from 10:00 am to 2:00 p.m. at the home of Carol Chambers (4326 Custer Rd., Hillsboro,OH) Just bring a sack lunch and beverage or a covered dish to share in addition to your blanket, supplies (fabric, yarn, thread) and equipment (needles, knitting needles, crochet hooks, scissors, sewing machine). Please note that no baby sitting will be provided. Project Linus is a volunteer organization which contributes new handmade blankets to provide comfort and security to seriously ill and traumatized children. Our chapter covers Adams, Brown, and Highland County ER facilities and EMTs in all 3 counties. Requirements for a blanket are simple: all blankets must be new, handmade, and washable. They may be crocheted, fringed fleece, knitted, sewn, tied, or quilted. We accept blankets that have been completed and any new kid-friendly pieces of flannel, cotton, yarns, or batting. MUSTARD SEED MINISTRY This ministry presents a Community Dinner with free food, crafts and more! Everyone is welcome at our table; this dinner is open to the community and is a great opportunity for fellowship. The purpose of Mustard Seed Ministry is to reach out to the community for a night of fellowship and food. We want to feed those who are hungry both spiritually and physically. The goal of the ministry is to care for one another and to embrace community values. Let Sharon Clifton and Emily Shuemake do the cooking!
