Dear sisters and brothers in Christ: If you happen to pay attention to the narthex, you may be able to find a little change.

Whenever I pass by the narthex, I take a glimpse of people s prayer intentions, and I often feel their joy, happiness, and thanksgiving as well as their struggles, wishes and need for healing.

One day while I was reading the prayer intentions, I looked up at the statue, and I realized that the suffering Jesus was looking at me with his gentle face.

Jesus, who suffered for each one of us, reminds everyone who comes to write their petitions that he is watching over them and walking with them while they are walking in the valley of tears.

Right next to the statue of Our Suffering Lord is a new stand holding the parish intention book. Whenever I pass by the narthex, I take a glimpse of people s prayer intentions, and I often feel their joy, happiness, and thanksgiving as well as their struggles, wishes and need for healing. I often pause for a moment and asked Jesus to grant all the prayers written in our parish intention book according to his holy will. One day while I was reading the prayer intentions, I looked up at the statue, and I realized that the suffering Jesus was looking at me with his gentle face. Then I realized, whenever a petitioner writes a prayer intention, Jesus looks at every one of them with his gentle face. Jesus, who suffered for each one of us, reminds everyone who comes to write their petitions that he is watching over them and walking with them while they are walking in the valley of tears. Many petitions were written with pains and sufferings, but at the same time, Jesus is comforting them and saying, I am with you always, until the end of the age (Mt 28:20). We, Christ the King faith community, pray for any special intentions written in our intention book every Mass, including the daily Mass. Let us continuously pray for one another. I certainly believe that God actively shows His presence through the Blessed Sacrament, but I have recently witnessed this in our parish more than ever. It was at the 10:30am Sunday Mass on September 28 th when all the lectors and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion were commissioned, and somehow the Mass was so well attended that many faithful could not find a seat and had to stand. While I was distributing Holy Communion, I realized that the Sacred Hosts were running out, but I somehow knew that it would work out. And guess what? It worked out very well. I have been a priest for four and half years, but it was the very first time that the numbers of the hosts were so exactly matched that there was only one Sacred Host remaining. What are the odds? It could be considered a coincidence. Sure. But I believe that it was the sign of God s presence in our community. God blesses all the faithful, especially those who are dedicated to become the words and hands of our Lord Jesus Christ! The Ministry Fair will be held throughout this weekend, and as I mentioned during the homily last week, I would like to cordially invite you to come and see (Jn 1:39) all the ministries in our parish. No commitment is required. I hope that you will be able to experience that Christ the King is moving toward a thriving, faith flourishing community, and if you somehow feel that God calls you to a particular ministry, I pray that you will open your heart and mind to that particular calling from God. But again, no obligation. Please come and meet with many wonderful, dedicated people in our parish. After the nice rain, the weather seems to be cooling down. In this changing season, I pray that you will be very well in body, mind and soul. Let us continuously pray for all our sisters and brothers who are ill, any military personnel who are deployed and their family, and all the residents in assisted living and nursing homes. Please pray for me as well. God loves you very much!
