1 Dear Friends, By now most all of you have heard the great news of our new UMHB Catholic Campus Ministry Center. This is definitely an exciting time for us. For the past number of years we have worked with the CSO (Catholic Student Organization) with weekly meetings, occasional celebrations of Mass, Holy Grounds coffee house theology talks, and much more. Throughout this time we ve had to meet in classrooms on campus, common rooms in dorms, and sometimes over here at CTK. Now the 350+ Catholic students will have a place to call their own! The bungalow style house sits at 905 Main Street, an amazing location directly across from the main entrance of the University. In addition to this central location, Tex-Dot has begun their work on a new traffic signal at the corner of 9 th and Main street which will include a cross walk. This will make it completely accessible for students to walk over to the house directly from class. With the help of our Director of Facilities Darrell Wallace and our Youth Minister Krystal Gates, Bruce Matous, John Gillette, and Scott Donley, we are putting together our plans to update the house. It is zoned three ways: University, Specific Use, and Historical. So we need to make sure that our plans fit into the character of the neighborhood, which is certainly the best way to approach the house anyway. We are engaging local construction vendors to partner with us on the project so that the repairs and renovations can be done reasonably. We were able to pay for the house using our Our Faith, Our Legacy fund. As you recall, Bishop Aymond lead our diocese in this Capital Campaign which raised money for the diocese and rebated a percentage of it back to the parishes. Our full rebate was around $150,000. When Fr. Dick and his team asked you to participate there were three specific goals for the funds raised: Youth Ministry, a Parish Life Center, and UMHB Campus Ministry. With that in mind we have elected to use some of these funds to pay for the house which ended up at $59,500. This is also a great investment as the wonderful success of UMHB will only serve to hold and increase the value of this property over the coming years. As we get closer to the new academic year we will be holding an open house for all of you to come by and see the set up and visit with Krystal and our Catholic Student Organization leadership. So many of you have already shared your excitement for the project and desire to partner with us. Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary Join us in this thirty-three day spiritual journey of St. Louis de Montfort using the book Totus Tuus: A Consecration to Jesus through Mary, written by Fr. Brian McMaster, the Diocese of Austin Vocation Director. Suzi Rockwood will roll out the program at a meeting Tuesday June 25 at 7PM in the parish hall. The book is available on amazon.com or parable.com. The Devotion begins July 13 and ends with the Consecration at the evening mass for the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary, August 15 6:30 PM. Contact Suzi with any or srockwood@stmarys-temple.org. Women's Ministry Day of Reflection will be held at Cedarbrake Wednesday, from 9AM-2:30PM. Fellowship & Breakfast will begin at 8:30AM. There will be talks led by Fr. Angelo Bertini, regarding female saints. All women of the parish are welcome and guests are encouraged. Please bring a breakfast, snack or luncheon item.
