1 The Trinitarian Trinity Heights United Methodist Church, Newton, Kansas March 2015 From the Pastor See You March 6 th Sunday Morning for the second round of the all church meeting. We will meet around the tables once again to hear the outcomes of our first meeting. I think a meeting like this can help us choose our priorities of how we will grow. I am sure you and I are both continuing to pray for how our church can grow. HELP! HELP! I have fallen and I can t get up!! If I owned life alert I would press the button. I am your church mortgage and I don t own life alert; I need your help! I am close, within three years, of being paid off!! I still cost our church $6, a month. Perhaps many of us need to consider giving a payment to the building fund as well as the budgeted offering of the church. As a building I provide you with a great place to worship and beautiful office space, a nursery to care for the littlest members, and a cry room so parents can sit comfortably with their children. I have comfortable heating and cooling and restrooms, and a choir room with robe storage. I know I cost you money, but you are really close to paying me off and retiring my debt. Together we can make sure that I continue to be paid and then we all know our church is really ours and we all had a part in helping to pay this mortgage. Thanks for your help. Thank you to Brad Stephens and his family for their wonderful leadership in the 11:11 worship. It is with sadness that we accept their resignation from this position. They will provide leadership on February 28 and allow us an opportunity to thank them as a family for their worship leadership. We will miss Brad, Shirley, Colin, Sarah, and Darin. They are a talented family! Maundy Thursday: The Thursday of Holy week is when Jesus ate Passover with his disciples, and thus began the tradition of communion. I am inviting you to the first annual Maundy Thursday March 24, 2016 meal and worship here at Trinity Heights. The evening begins at 6:00pm with a meal of pizza and salad and ice cream in the fellowship hall. We will then remember the Passover meal with a short Seder supper which reminds us of how the disciples celebrated Passover with Christ, and then we will finish with communion. We will then process to the sanctuary by candlelight to remind ourselves that each of us as disciples have been called by Christ and each of us have not followed Christ. I am certain that we will be finished with all of what we are doing by 7:20 and yet in that brief time we will have worshiped, eaten and fellowshipped together. I am hopeful that you will make this a must attend event in your Easter plans. Pastor Donna

3 NEWS FROM MISSIONS As I plan and seek donations for the Dinner/ Entertainment/Auction, I would like a few ideas from you about items for the auction. The auction is going to be revamped with less baskets and a different approach to auctioning off the baskets. The auction will be just as much fun or more than before. One big item that has been donated is four rounds of golf at Crestview Golf Course in Wichita. All you golfers start saving for this big item! The Dinner/Entertainment/Auction is April 1 st at 6:00 P.M. in Fellowship Hall. Reservations may be made now through March 25 th. Remember you may reserve a table. This is a great opportunity to invite friends to a function/activity/ ministry of our church. Also if you have never heard vocalist Jennifer Lee perform you are in for an awesome concert. Once again Richard Denno s special pork chops plus all the fixings is the dinner menu. Trinity Heights Respite Care is a much needed ministry in our community. I thank all of you that have given to help this ministry thrive and continue serving our clients. Connie Rickard Director Alzheimer s Support Group March 18, and April 15 the Support Group will meet at Asbury Park at 3:00pm in the Lakeside Room at the Assisted Living building. We meet every 3rd Friday. Co-coordinators are Merrill Reber, Harlan and Judy Riggers. We would love to have you come and share as caregivers or just with questions. Those in the early stages of Alzheimer s are also welcome. Plan now to be with us in March. For questions, please contact Harlan or Judy Rittgers. Salvation Army Needs for March The Salvation Army still is in need of personal items: shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste, mouthwash, soap, etc. They are always thankful for any food items, but sometimes we forget about other needs a family has. So please pick up some of these items also. Whenever you are traveling remember to gather the sample items in the motel. These are great handouts for people that come in for help. The food items they do need for March are snack items to hand out and always pb&j. The United Methodist Church GREAT PLAINS AREA Scott J. Jones Resident Bishop As a Conference we continue to focus our time, talents and resources on increasing the number of highly vital congregations in Nebraska and Kansas. One of our resources is the power of prayer. On 3/27/2016 I will be praying for you (Pastor Donna) and the Newton Trinity Heights United Methodist Church. I will be sending an to all of your sisters and brothers and many others inviting them to pray for you on that day. May the Lord bless your ministry and empower all of those you serve to grow in their faith, hope, love and witness for Christ. Confirmation Classes will begin in April 3, and continue through May 15, when we will have confirmation on Pentecost. If you have someone needing to be confirmed let the church offices know so that we can order enough materials.
4 Dear Trinity Heights Brothers and Sisters Let me express on behalf of our residents heartfelt appreciation for the Christmas eve service support that came to Asbury Park. The funds received will go into the Resident Care Club fund that supports approximately 67 individuals living at Asbury Park who have outlived all of their savings. Thank you for your continued prayerful and financial support. Tom Williams Dear Trinity Heights Volunteers, Thank you so much for volunteering at Sunset School! Thank you also to your gracious "families" at Trinity for donating to our Santa Shop so students could buy gifts for their families. All of us at Sunset appreciate all you do!! THANK YOU!! Fondly, Sunset PTO Thank you so much for all your thoughts, prayers, and concerns during Anita s illness and following her passing. Thank you for the generous memorial contributions. The money will be put to good use for the church. A special thank you for everyone who prepared, served, and cleaned up after the meal following the service. It was very much appreciated (and delicious). The Dennis Houdek Family The Mission s Committee want to thank those in our church family who have contributed to help underwrite the cost for Tom Williams to go to Haiti March He hopes to learn and determine if this is a Mission trip for our Church in the future. Thanks again for your generosity. Regretfully we had to cancel our Book Study in February due to Anita s Memorial Service. We haven t set a new time for the study, but we will send out s to everyone when we get the date set. We will have our Board meeting on Sat, March 12 th at 9:00 am at the church.
