4 Sympathy to Byron Powers in the passing of his wife, Wilma Powers AUMC KIDS! Hello, AUMC! Here's the latest from AUMC Kids. We had a great time at the Flashlight Egg Hunt on Sunday! About kids and their families joined us for the event - we were thrilled to see many familiar faces from the Rummage Sale and Weatherly Elementary. We had snacks, games, crafts, a photo booth, and of course, EGGS! It was great fun for everyone. A big thank-you to our youth for hiding the eggs for us, and to everyone who provided supplies and helped with the games and crafting stations! If you are keeping up with our Lenten Calendar for Families, you know that today's task is a Prayer. The Prayer is taken from Psalm 139: "Even darkness is not dark to God. Amen." Tomorrow's Service is a cool one for families to explore together: "Learn a word in a language you don't speak to appreciate another culture." Que divertido! Each day on the calendar rotates between fasting, prayer, and service. This is an opportunity to talk with your family about the significance of each of these practices - fasting, prayer, and service - during Lent. When we fast, we are sacrificing such a small part of ourselves and our routine when Jesus sacrificed everything for us. We grow closer to God when we pray, just like having conversation draws us closer to other people. We do acts of service for others so that we can practice showing God's love and generosity, and so that our community will know God's love through our small acts of kindness. Don't worry if some days aren't as successful as others - like everything, we're a work in progress. Don't give up! During our Sunday evening activity time on March 18, the families of children and youth are invited to experience a Seder Meal. We will talk about communion - why we do it and where it comes from. We will close our time together with a delicious catered meal. A $5.00/person contribution is requested to offset meal costs. Parents are invited to join us! It's the most wonderful time of the year - we're talking about summer, of course! And summertime means we're going to Camp Sumatanga! Aldersgate UMC will be taking a group to elementary camp the week of June If you know a rising 4th - 6th grader who would love to spend a week learning more about God at the best place on

5 earth, make sure to block out these dates so they can go with us! Also we always need volunteers! 7 MISSION OF THE MONTH MARCH MISSION OF THE MONTH THE CARE CENTER The Care Center serves the communities of New Hope, Grant, and Gurley which has some of the poorest residents of the area. The Care Center's mission is to improve the quality of life for as many residents as possible. They accomplish through many programs such as maintaining a food pantry, after school programs, GED classes, job certification programs, housing assistance, tutoring students, funding scholarships for local students, summer camps, mentoring programs and maintaining a thrift store.
