We will elect a new vicepresident and secretary and dedicate Gifts of the Heart Kits. Those attending please bring a tureen or dessert to share along with your table service. CWU is an ecumenical organization, begun in 1941, of women from all Christian traditions. Celebration services encourage dialogue with all people of faith on contemporary issues. Any questions? Reserved pew seating on Mary s side for 9 AM Mass on October 13th. Breakfast to follow in our social hall. Guest Speaker is Sr. Tina Geiger, RSM, Catholic Rural Ministry of Oil City. Cost of the breakfast is $9 and must be prepaid. Menu includes, scrambled eggs, bacon/sausage, potatoes, mini-muffins, fruit cup, coffee. All are welcome to attend. Tickets may be purchased after Masses Sept. 21/22 & 28/29. Reservations required. This week we pay tribute to: The HOLY NAME SOCIETY is open to all men of the parish, age 18 & older. 4 Page Four St. Brigid Church, Meadville, Pennsylvania September 15, 2013 LAVISH FORGIVENESS 24th Sunday of the Year Moses appeals to God for compassion in today s first reading. The point of Moses pleas is not to provide a blueprint for pacifying an angry God, but to demonstrate that no matter our sin and its grievousness, God will always forgive. In his Letter to Timothy, Paul uses himself, the great sinner, as an example of just how great is God s forgiveness. Finally, today s Gospel parables create a mural of God s forgiving love. Like a diligent housekeeper, a good shepherd, a loving father, God goes out of the way to recover the lost and to forgive. By pointing out that the woman leaves her nine silver pieces, that the shepherd leaves his ninety-nine sheep waiting, and the father leaves his elder son upset, Jesus urges us to abandon a stingy view of life. If God can be so generous, so forgiving, and so loving to those deemed unworthy, we must act likewise. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co. TWO NINTH GRADE SESSIONS TO BE OFFERED With the changes in the requirements for Confirmation M.A.C.Y.M. will be offering two options for 9th grade students. There will now be two times and locations for 9th grade regular sessions. They are: Saint Mary Center~Sunday~9:00 until 10:15 Seton Catholic School~Sunday~10:00 until 11:15 A student may choose which location he/she wishes to attend. It does not matter what parish a student belongs to, both locations are open to any student from St. Agatha, St. Brigid or St. Mary of Grace. 7TH AND 8TH FIRST REGULAR SESSION The first Regular Session for all 7th and 8th M.A.C.Y.M. students will be held in their home parishes on Sunday, September 22nd. St. Mary students will meet in their center from 9 AM until 10:15. St. Agatha students will meet in Seton School from 10 AM until 11:15. St. Brigid students will meet in their downstairs classroom from 10 AM until 11:15. REGISTRATION FEES AND FORMS A reminder to send with your son/daughter their registration fee and forms you received in their registration packet. You may also drop them off at your home parish office.
