I think you will find our parish community to be alive with the Spirit of Christ a Spirit that is shown most profoundly in prayer, service and joy. In the end, joy is the surest sign of one who follows Jesus. I hope you feel at home here at Messiah. There are so many ways to get involved and to reach out to those who are most in need. F I R S T R E A D I N G Micah 3:5-12 Thus says the L89: concerning the prophets who lead my people astray, who cry Peace when they have something to eat, but declare war against those who put nothing into their mouths. Therefore it shall be night to you, without vision, and darkness to you, without revelation. 9 Taking Faith Home CARING CONVERSATIONS Discuss in your home or small group: In the New Testament, all Christians are saints, people set apart for faith in God and love of others. What does it mean to you that you are a saint? All Saints Sunday is a special time to remember those in the church who have died, especially in the past year. Talk about someone you know who has died and who has had an impact on your faith. Read Psalm 34:8. When have you experienced God s protection? Tell your story. RITUALS AND TRADITIONS Set aside time to light candles or ring bells in remembrance of friends or family who have died. Take a moment of silence, then read 1 Thessalonians 4: Look at pictures of your departed loved ones and share stories about their lives. If possible, visit their gravesites. The readings will be coordinated with YOW (Youth on Wednesday) families so it can work well to have older siblings read and younger siblings light the candles. But it can also be several families and/or friends together! Sunday School Christmas Program December 17 at 2 J: The children will practice the music for the Christmas Program every week for the next 7 weeks. Health Ministry Team Messiah's Senior Adult Ministry (SAM) will start complimentary blood pressure checks on Nov The Saturday checks will take place prior to the 5:00 4- service. SAM Fall Walk Join Barb and Walt Herrod for a 1.5 mile fall walk on Friday, Nov. 10, 1: The walk begins at McCarthy Youth Park, in Sun Prairie. There are no paved areas, so it is important that participants have good footwear and that you are sure-footed. There is a non-flush comfort station at the parking lot.
