2 E-Encourager 2 From My Heart to Yours Will you not revive us again, That Your people may rejoice in You? Show us Your mercy, O Lord, and grant us Your salvation. Psalms 85:6-7 By the time you read this our Associational Revival will most likely be done or almost done. Nevertheless, the burden of my heart is that we begin (or continue) to experience real REVIVAL in our local churches and the church overall. This is part of my daily heart cry to the Lord. The church is desperate for a fresh moving of God s Spirit in us as individual followers of Jesus Christ and as local bodies of believers. Real REVIVAL is when we, as God s people, have 1. a passionate love for Jesus Christ (In that we love Him above everyone and everything.) 2. It involves having a passionate love for His Word (In that we read it, study it, meditate upon it, memorize it and listen to it consistently daily if possible. In that we rejoice in it and seek to live by it with the help of the Holy Spirit.) 3. It involves having compassion for brothers and sisters in Christ (In that we pray for them encourage them, edify them, forgive them and serve them. In that we fellowship with them, worship with them, care for them and exercise our Spiritual gifts with them.) 4. It also involves having compassion for unbelievers (In that we pray for them, share God s Word with them, care for them by helping meet their needs, invite them to our church activities and seeking to bring them to Jesus by sharing with them our personal testimonies and the Gospel.) Let us not grow weary in crying out to our Lord of REVIVAL, for His MERCY and for His SALVATION! For His Glory E.J. Barnes Seminary Extension The Fall Semester of Seminary Extension starts on Thursday, September 4, Classes will be held from 7:00-9:00 pm at the North Grand River Baptist Association. The three hour course, How to Understand the Bible, will be taught by Dan Wilford. Because of God s amazing grace, the tuition will be free. The only expenses to students will be the $18.00 text that will be used for the course. Please register early and make a commitment to complete the course. Last year was an expensive year because three students dropped out or never did start. Please let s not let this be a repeat. This past semester there were four students completing the course on Survey of the Old Testament, Part II, with three getting credit and one auditing the course. Praise God! Please be praying for your Seminary Extension and promote it in your churches. This is a course that every born again believer could benefit from. Please sign up early so resources can be ordered in a timely manner. Let s have another great year. 5 E-Encourager 5 NCMC ANNNND Their OFF!! The Fall semester started with a huge weekend. Friday night, 8/15, the BSU hosted 47 baseball and RA assistants at a Welcome dinner, with speaker Tim Munday, sharing words of encouragement. Thank you Tim! Saturday, from 8am-1:30pm, we hosted a Welcome table in front of Ketchem, meeting many parents and new/old students moving into the dorms. Then Sunday, 6pm, we served approximately 110 sandwiches to all dorm students who came to the Sugg Room in Ketchem center for supper. Monday, 8/18, we hosted a Welcome table at the Club Fair Day, meeting lots of freshmen students this year. Tuesday, was our 1st Communitas worship service at 9 pm, when we met 5 new students for the first time. Wednesday the 20th, FBC Trenton hosted our 1st Wednesday Free Lunch ministry, when God allowed us to serve 97 lunches. Thank you Shawn Allee for sharing the gospel during the devotions and for praying with students. Then Sunday, 8/24, we hosted our first Sunday Night Alive at the BSU, having 26 students, most with hollow legs and holes in their toes. (23 of the 26 were hungry males.) During the evening we showed the video Humanity by Jefferson Bethke, sharing the concept that God is a God of relationships (God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) and he created us in His Image to be people of relationships. Pray for our students as they navigate this scary new phase of their lives. Pray that they seek meaningful relationships with believers and investigate the greatest relationship that of knowing Jesus as Lord. Matthew 28: Jesus came and told his disciples, I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, [a] baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age. No matter how many times I read the previous text, or how many different versions I read this passage from, Jesus last Words commands HIS children to MAKE Disciples! Simply, as His child, I am OBLIGATED without options to intentionally be making disciples. And if I follow the greatest example, I will be living LIFE with those few people who God is telling me to teach them how to obey all His commands. The ultimate result will be the same results that Jesus had. His disciples began going throughout the world Making Disciples which began the New Testament Church. So my questions are: Who has God told you to specifically pour your life into that they will become a disciple? AND If you have discipled a person like Jesus did, are they now Making Disciples also? He is Worthy to Receive the Rewards of His Sacrifice Souls Diann Barnes
