2 E-Encourager 2 My name is Gene Schreffler. Ann and I serve as pastor of the Galt Baptist Church. I count it an honor to offer you come encouraging words this month. I have been a pastor in the Association for nearly 40 years. I ve seen the tops of the mountains and the deepest of valleys in our churches as well as in our Association. I would like to offer you my formula for a successful church which will lead to a successful Association. Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. To be successful, I believe we just need to follow the instructions of these two verses. What the church needs first of all are just some good church members: those that may never do anything spectacular, those who just show up, the ones you can count on, those who are a witness of what God has done in their lives, who are not ashamed of the gospel, those who are Christians. Next, we need some Sunday School ministers: those who pour their heart into teaching God s Holy Word, that will pray and spend time in preparation. Along with good church members and teachers, we need wise leader s humble not seeking glory of position but with the mind of a servant. Lastly we need a pastor: a man willing to preach the Word, the message God revealed to him no matter what, willing to take on the position of shepherd, not hired but called of God that truly loves the sheep in his flock and those who are homeless waiting to be claimed. I believe if we all would all just do our reasonable service from this passage, we would be successful not only in our churches but also in our Association. A culinary graduate of LeCole Culinary School in Kansas City will be preparing a wonderful 3 course meal. Think missions, think fun and fellowship. Theme for the year is By All Means. Regional WMU meeting at Grand Oaks in Chillicothe Thursday, September 14. Registration 8:30 to 9am. Shelly Sims Hello Friends, The school year has started off wonderfully! I have met a couple hundred students already! Many of the students are interested in being a part of the BSU activities. I was even able to take two guys to church with me! I'm very excited about what God is doing already and I look forward to the many events and fellowships we have ahead of us! Including our 417 Retreat in Mt. Vernon, Mo. God is good! Thank you for all the items donated towards our bags and I look forward to working with you all as the semester continues. For Jesus, Christina Boatright Missouri Baptist Convention 183rd Annual Meeting October 23-25, 25, 2017 at Connection Point Church, Raytown, MO The theme is Who Is My Neighbor? (Luke 10:29 CSB). Sonrise Children s Home After much prayer and discussion it was decided to dissolve the Sonrise not-for-profit corporation. A plan to transfer assets to the Show-Me Christian Youth Home is underway. Show-Me has been accomplishing many of the goals Sonrise has had, but has not had the infrastructure to accomplish. We hope you will come along side us and continue your support of the children s ministry and begin directing any future support to Show-Me Christian Home.

5 E-Encourager 5 Gallatin- The JOY You on August 16, the first day of school nine youth gather around the high school flag pole and prayed for their school. We will be doing this again on September 27. This is open to all ages and anyone can come pray with the students. Bro. Garrett stated in his newsletter, Our church is here to serve the community. Bible Study teachers, Pioneer Club workers, Choir, Bus/Van drivers, Cooks, Church Librarian, Ushers, Outreach team, and Finance committee are just some of the many ministries where we can serve. There are many other ministries that are currently going on and many others that we haven t even considered yet that you can get involved in. It s time again to meet together for good food and fellowship at our Keenagers noon luncheon on Thursday September 7th! You won t want to miss this get-together Garrett Dungy is planning to be with us to share about his mission trip to Honduras! Gallatin FBC will serve lunch to the BSU on Wednesday, September 27. Pioneer Club will begin, Wednesday, September 13 with supper being served at 5:30 and the Bible Study from 6 to 7:30 pm. Trenton FBC We have had a busy summer and beginning our activities for the fall. Adult and Children Choirs began on Sunday, August 20th. The 5th & 6th grade known as Area 56 and Youth Ministry 7th-12th grades will begin on August 23rd. GA s, RA s and Mission Friends will meet on Sunday evenings at 5:00 pm. Awana s will begin on Wednesday, September 6th from 6:00-7:00 pm. On August 27th Walter Plant was in concert during the evening service. September 17th Bob Springate from the Missouri Baptist Children s Home will be speaking in the morning service.
