Our One more Child ministry is guiding approximately 20 foster children through dedicated Christian foster families throughout our judicial circuit. Disaster Relief has multiple assets including the new Mobile Command Center. Our Seaport Ministry has welcomed 32 vessels this year, provided 90 trips on the van to local shopping destinations, and hosted a memorial service for a family member of one of the crewman which resulted in 7 professions of faith. Our 2 sixty-five inch monitors have arrived for installation allowing us internet conferencing experiences as well as visual display opportunities when we meet in The Gathering Place. We also continue to come along side churches regarding health issues, leadership development and resourcing. Our story is not to be taken for granted. I just returned from a retreat with my colleagues from around the state. Although we have had to make adjustments, they have not been as austere as other associations. In fact a few weeks ago one of our associations voted to dissolve. I am grateful for our vision and your support of local missions. However, I do need to tell you that our associational receipts have fallen off. I understand that some of you are facing challenges with your own church budgets, but wanted to ask you to do what you can. Having collaborative missions engagement with sister churches in our network is part of the Biblical footprint of the New Testament church and I believe churches who participate locally are better for the endeavor. That's for you to take up with careful prayerful contemplation. Just needed you to be aware, especially while we wait for our former building to sell, that we are seeing challenges first hand as well. As I close, thank you for allowing me to preach in your pulpits. I generally have somewhere to preach every Sunday, but don t let that keep you from asking. Bless you for your missional engagement. 2 VOLUNTEER IN MISSIONS JENNIE LONDON Volunteer Mission Vision Our Northwest Coast Shower Unit During June and July, our Shower Unit served Mission Teams at three different churches. The first was Hiland Park BC for the PC Changers. You may have seen a great article about this ministry in the Panama City News Herald. About 200 teenagers and their leaders from Panama City and Youngstown served in the Panama City area for four days. They helped to do clean-up work at about 40 homes plus at least one school. The day after that event closed down, the Shower Unit was retrieved and taken to Altha FBC, for a similar community ministry, Called 2 Serve. This was a much smaller group which served for five days. They constructed 3 wheel chair ramps and did repair work on a few homes, including 1 roof, as well as doing some pressure washing and cleaning some yards. Then, the first part of July, Panama City FBC hosted a group of just over 300 World Changers who also served for five days. They provided various types of construction, repairs and cleanup at about 40 different homes in the Glenwood and Millville areas. All glory to God for the hands on witness of HIS love that was shown by these teams to a number of people in the areas where they served. In addition, these three groups combined reported the following: about 225 Ministry Contacts or Gospel Presentations, 40 Bibles and 30 Tracts were distributed. Best of all, the combined teams reported 9 rededications of faith and 5 first time professions of faith! Praise the Lord! Many thanks go to the 11 shower unit volunteers who so faithfully delivered, set up, cleaned and retrieved the unit, in support of these mission teams. Altogether, these volunteers gave over 130 hours of service. One mission team leader said that without our Shower Unit, they would not have been able to do the ministry that they accomplished. Due to the number of World Changers, Panama City FBC also secured a shower unit owned by the Florida Baptist Disaster Relief. At least 4 more volunteers assisted with keeping it clean, in addition to the volunteer who drove to Lake Yale to pick up the unit and who also returned it. 3 One More Child has had a busy summer! We are currently teaching two classes right now that will wrap up in the next couple of weeks. We are excited about the upcoming school year and the new families we hope to license. Please be in prayer for these families and our workers as they complete the licensing process and anticipate their first placement! This summer has also brought with it the excitement of adoption. Five children were adopted into forever homes with three of our foster families. Four more children were able to stay together in one of our foster homes and have now moved into a forever home. We celebrate that these children have forever families, but even more that now they will learn about a Heavenly Father and an eternal home! Two of these 8 children were baptized recently and we are still praising God for those decisions! Another victory we are celebrating is a biological mom s life who was changed. She has been delivered from a life of addiction and was able to be reunified with all seven of her children. She recently shared her testimony in a video on Facebook. God is so good! As we gear up for this new school year we are hoping to increase our number of foster homes, but we are also really wanting to increase our number of volunteers. Maybe you don t feel called to foster, but you want to help. Here are some way you can contribute to our local foster care ministry: -Participate in a meal train for families that receive new placements -Host an Orientation or support group at your church -Provide snacks or childcare for our trainings -Write notes of prayers and encouragement to our families and foster children -Help spread the word that we are here!
