2 From My Heart to Yours Rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer. (Romans 12:12) The theme of our Annual Meeting September 11, 2010 at Trenton, First Baptist will be Harvesting the Land Tilling the Ground. The Pastors in our Association believe that we need to focus on PRAYER for at least one more year. At the special called Pastors Prayer Meeting, August 16th, the Pastors were in total agreement that the Pastors in our Association must gather together consistently to share with each other and to pray fervently for one another, for our churches and especially for the children and youth in our area. All are desiring a great movement of God to bring about REAL REVIVAL in our churches and a GREAT SPIRITUAL AWAKENING in our area. The men voiced the need for they themselves to humble themselves more, to be more compassionate and to be more holy in their daily lives. They agreed that as the Spiritual leaders in their churches all our Pastors must set the example in these characteristics and practices. They acknowledged that God is our only hope for 3000 people to be truly born again in our area by the end of Therefore, we must cry out to Him for help and guidance, as we avail ourselves to be instruments in His hands to reach lost souls. They said it is obvious that what we are doing for the most part is not working. We must become 2 Chronicles 7:14 leaders and people; if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Pray for our Pastors aa they make time to pray with one another and as they lead their churches and our Association to live God s way and to trust God to work. For His Glory, E.J. Barnes P.S. Please support the MMO offering. 10% of what the churches in our association gives, come tack to our association. 3 Edinburg On Saturday, July 28, we held our first church wide camp out on the grounds of the church. There was plenty of food, fellowship and entertainment. Thirty two attended. On Saturday, July 31, several members of our congregation participated in the 2nd annual Special Olympic Celebrity Ball Game sponsored by the DAWGS. The DAWGS faced off at the Griffin field in Trenton against the Trenton Celebrities. The DAWGS took the first game 32 to 3 and the second game 43 to 2. The event was a fund raiser for the DAWGS. Those participating from our church included two athletes and four coaches. Edinburg church was well represented at the event. On Sunday, August 1st, our Youth Church celebrated their first year by attending lunch at the Pizza Hut after regular services. On Sunday, August 8, one of the children came forward in Children s Church and accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. On Sunday, August 15, he was presented to the congregation and will be baptized at a later date. On Sunday, August 8, we held our services at Sunnyview Nursing Home. Galt- We had a good VBS on July We entered a float in the parade at the Galt Fair and won first place. On Saturday July 31, Bro. Gene and Ann renewed their vows with a wedding ceremony at the church. Bro. Mike Dennis officiated the service. Remember to pray for the students and teachers as school s are now in session. Lineville - We held our Back to School Fair on August 7 and had a good turn out. Several children attended the fun & games and received their free back packs filled with school supplies and at least 12 of them have committed their Wednesday afternoons to attending the After School Program held here at the church each week. This will begin September 1. We have two new Bible studies in the works for the next several months. Beginning the first of September we will begin a women's Bible study to be held every Thursday afternoon. We will be doing the Women of Faith Bible Studies beginning with A Grand New Day. Then on September 5, we will begin a 6 week long study on Marriage: Built to Last, being led by Pastor Aaron Stark. All who are interested are encouraged to attend this study. Medicine Valley Community Ministry- Next month, September of 2010, promises to be an exceptionally important time in the development of our long range objectives at Medicine Valley Community Ministries. Beginning with a Gospel Music Jubilee the weekend of September 25, 26 we kick off a year of intensive outreach and disciplining. The Jubilee Music Celebration is to be at the Baptist Chapel at Newtown. The year s activities will include a number of special services throughout the year, culminating in September of 2011 with an Evangelistic Crusade at Humphreys co-sponsored by a number of area Baptist Churches. Churches invited to cooperate in the Crusade include Alpha Baptist, First Baptist Church of Milan, Galt Baptist, Ravanna Baptist, Laredo Baptist, Rural Dale Baptist and Medicine Valley Community Ministry. In addition the other churches in North Grand River Baptist Association are all encouraged to support this evangelistic effort. A number of gospel music groups are being invited to provide a half hour pre-session music each night of the Crusade to be held August of 2011, Evangelist Richard Green will deliver God s message nightly and worship time will be directed by recording artist Jamie Page. Various local music groups have been invited to participate in the Gospel Music Jubilee in September. These include Laredo s Gospel Choir, Mercer s Gospel Band, Zion s Lifeline Gospel Band, Jamesport s Gospel quartet, Gallatin s Gospel Quartet, and The Veatch Family. Others are still to be contacted and most of these have not yet confirmed their availability. All groups are coming free gratis as this is a fund raising event to help underwrite the cost of expanded ministries through Home Bible Study Groups and culminating with the Area-Wide Evangelism Crusade at Humphreys a year from now. We are asking, no, urging all pastors in the association to lead their people to pray, attend, and give increased financial support to these endeavors. It may well be that God is preparing to make himself known in significant ways in this small corner of his domain. Please help us to implement the vision he has given for his work throughout our Medicine Valley Communities and the surrounding areas as we attempt to join Him where He is already at work, in this Mission in Your own Backyard. Princeton Our Awana s worker will be meeting and planning with Awana s beginning on Wednesday, September 8th at 5:45 pm with supper. There were 25 in attendance for the Boys Campout. Our new Pastor Dr. David H. Robertson and his wife, Barbara have moved in the parsonage and began their ministry on Monday, August 16th. We warmly welcome you and looking forward to many years of serving the Lord at First Baptist. Shelburne- We had our VBS on July with 49 children enrolled. We also had an Adult VBS class with 8. There was a total of 25 workers. Our offering went to purchase 3 bicycles for missionaries transportation to spread the gospel with. On August 29th, Gregg and Andrea Brummit and Bethany, missionaries from FROG will be telling of their missionary work during the morning service beginning at 11 am. Salem- Our August VBS went very well. It was our biggest one ever. It's wonderful how it has grown. When we started a few years ago with VBS we had 6 children. This year our highest number was 42, with 38 being our average for the 5 days. Praise the Lord! This is really wonderful for our little country church. We had plenty of workers and helpers. We want to thank Hatton Chapel for providing the refreshments for the commencement Also want to thank Jen Myers and Amanda Griffin from Hatton, for all of their help with the teaching and outdoor activities. On August 8th, we baptized another new soul for Jesus. Another wonderful blessing. August 28th we are having a bridal shower for Melissa Wayman. August 29th we will be having the Sunnyview Nursing Home service. 5 MBC BSU BSU of NCMC Students moved into the dorms yesterday, and Monday starts the new fall 2010 season for NCMC. This weekend has been full to the brim with tons of opportunities to meet new students, get caught up on summer happenings with returning students, and most of all share Jesus Love with open arms. Thank you NGRBA ladies for helping me make our students feel welcomed by our BSU. You brought enough bagged cookies to make 150 welcome bags for the dorm students. Several students dropped by our Welcome table on Saturday to eat from our cookie trays and mentioned having already gotten their welcome bag of cookies. (Thank you, Evelyn and Emogene for supplying more cookies for our Sat. table.) I even saw one father leaving the girl s dorm with his daughter s gift bag minus the cup and ink pen, but containing the tea, cocoa and eating the cookies. I later saw the daughter and she said, yeah, dad thought he earned the goodies but I wouldn t let him take my mug or pen! Friday night, we hosted supper for the student Dorm Leaders and the baseball team who managed the Move-In on Saturday. Thank you, Gene and Ann for helping cook the meal, and all the ladies (some from Shelburne) who supplied desserts for the supper. It was a huge successful ministry because of your team efforts. No way, could I have pulled it off by myself. So Thanks, TEAM, for all your hard work. Stephen Williamson shared Jesus Words with the students in a powerful way. Aaron Elliot showed a clip about LifeCenter concert in Bethany, September 25, and Katie Welch shared with the students about her mission trip experience to Canada. (A huge thanks to Dale Leeper for helping set-up the projector upstairs for Aaron.) All the multiple people and churches who pitched in to make this weekend one of the BEST Move-In weekends since I ve been in Trenton, blows my mind. Wow!! Is God good or WHAT?! Some evident results from this weekend 3 female students came to our home unexpectedly Saturday night about 7pm. Two were return students and their new roommate, a young lady originally from El Salvador. (Our BSU ministry is going international. God is exploding our local into international outreach. Remember the 6 from Chile, last year? Now we have students from El Salvador, Zimbabwe and West Guiana.) I made a batch of sugar cookies from a cake mix, and set the girls to icing the cookies while I grilled burgers, since they said they hadn t eaten. After clean up, EJ joined us and we played a 5 man speed card game, that the girls laughed so hard there were tears. Because of all the ministries Friday and Saturday, when I got to 10 th St Baptist this morning to play for their worship service, 6 of those students were filling up one complete row of chairs, to worship with me, fulfilling their promise to join me for worship. Thank you, Ron for preaching Truth. Now we ll let the Holy Spirit harvest. Some new ministries I really need you to pray about and see where you can plug in this year with your mission hearts are: 1. Monday and Wednesday, 7am-8am, we will attempt to serve homemade cinnamon rolls/coffee/cocoa for $2 to commuters using the parking lot by the BSU. My plans are to open the windows and let God spread the smell of fresh cinnamon rolls to bring students by before class, and use the opportunity to share Jesus. (If someone has a great yeast recipe, share it with me, please!) All funds will be used for next year s Canada Mission trip in May. 2. 4:30p Supper/Bible Study for students to really dig in God s Word. 3. 6pm Common Grounds (pun on coffee grounds) a time for students to meet and find common ground with other students games, tournaments, movies, and snacks. Our Wednesday Free Lunch and Sunday Night Alive ministries will continue again this year. The 1 st 3 Wednesdays have already been scheduled and one in November. If you have a preference to host Seminary Extension Sign up now for Fall Classes North Grand River Mission Center 1108 Main, Trenton, MO Dynamics of Teaching RE 264 A study of the principles and methods of teaching youth and adults, including the relationship of the teacher to the teaching task, the steps in lesson plan development, and the use of teaching aids. 3 Hour Course.
