2 Mark s Minute On the first day of our family vacation at the beach this past July, I issued the challenge to my family to look for God moments each and every day. Then at lunch time or during dinner throughout the week, I would ask Where did you see God today? Well, the answers were varied but one thing was clear each of us started LOOKING for God-sightings more intentionally because we knew that question was coming each day. Several weeks ago, Matt preached about the rhythm of our spiritual life he, too, challenged us to ask questions like these to each other. It was so encouraging for me to hear my girls share with us, their parents, some spiritual truths that they had gleaned that day. What if each of us developed the habit of looking for where God shows up each day? What if each of us were more intentional to look for God sightings? But not stopping there what if we told others about our God sightings? Do you think that might then encourage THEM to begin looking for God sightings, too? Psalm 19:1 says, The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands and in Job 12:7-10 we read: But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you. Which of all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind. We can learn a lot about God by praying that we might see things spiritually and then intentionally looking around to see those things. My prayer for each of us is that we would each take the time each day to pray, God reveal yourself to me. Where will YOU see God today? In Him, Pastor Mark STARTING AGAIN THIS FALL! Babies through Youth will move up to the next Sunday School class based on their age or school grade. Please notify your child(s) Sunday School teacher if they are eligible for promotion. 2 SIGN-UP CARDS WILL BE IN SUNDAY S BULLETIN IN AUGUST.

Contact Pastor Matt at or shalomy2819@gmail.com Youth Group Mission Trip Recap The Shalom Youth had the awesome opportunity this July to go to Burtonsville, Maryland and serve the local community through an organization called Group. Our theme throughout the week was Grit and we focused on spiritual risks we have to take as believers. We were encouraged to step out in our faith like Peter did when he walked on water. We learned to trust God, be courageous in our service, surrender to Jesus, and to love others around us the same way Jesus loves us. We also reflected on how we can share God s love with others even when we go back home. We served in assisted living facilities, food pantries, and helped out in other ministry organizations around the Burtonsville area. The Shalom Youth challenge our church family to trust God to lead your life, take risks when serving others, and love those around you like we did this week. ~ Morgan Miller 3 Shalom will be collecting all types of school supplies to support the Bland Ministry Center in Bland County. Please bring your donations on Sunday morning, August 26 (not before!) For details, contact Kathy Seay at
