3 CIRCLE OF CARE There are times in the lives of our congregation when assistance is needed due to illness or being homebound. If you can volunteer to help with various tasks, forms have been placed in both narthexes. Please complete the form and return it to the church office by September 1 st. If you have questions, please contact Becky Loe, Penny Moore or Janet Price. **Forms are attached FELLOWSHIP ATTENDANCE PADS ~ Please sign the Attendace Pads located at the end of each pew. Doing so helps the church staff note your presence, both visitors and members, and this information is an important and needed part of the church s Annual Statistical Report. 4 At each circle meeting, two offerings are received: Love Offering is dedicated to be used as that individual circle determines for special projects (gift card for family at Thanksgiving/Christmas, Thornwell special events). Offering is a donation each member gives to support the Presbyterian Women s annual budget. RALLY SUNDAY ~ SEPTEMBER 9 More news coming regarding Rally Sunday and the structure of children, youth and adult Sunday School classes. WEDNESDAY CONVERSATIOINS ~ All are welcome to attend a study on Wednesdays at 6:00. Dr. Jones will be leading the study and discussion based on the book What is the Bible? How an Ancient Library of Poems, Letters, and Stories Can Transform the Way You Think and Feel About Everything, which was written by Rob Bell. The study will be held in the Curry/Agape Classroom across the hall from Parlor in Sanctuary Building. FIPC YOUTH GROUP August 26 ~ PYC Kick Off for Parents and Youth, 5:30-7:30, CFC with meal provided PRAYERS FOR STUDENTS AUGUST 26

5 As school begins, FIPC members have the opportunity to pray for our students as they return to their classrooms; prayers for growth, safety, happiness, wisdom, patience and love. From pre-school to college, all students will have a personalized apple placed in a bowl at the Baptismal Font. Having these student s names in this sacred place reminds us of our vows when these children were baptized; to support, nurture, and love and pray for them. During the Passing of Peace in worship, adults will be asked to go forward to the font and retrieve a name as your commitment to pray for them during the coming academic year. The name you choose isn t significant but your commitment to support the student with prayers IS significant. ALSO, ABC scripture bookmarks are available one per household as a guide to your prayers of concern and supporting scripture. With school having resumed, please remember that Backpack Blessings will begin providing weekend food for more than 300 children from 15 upstate schools and also anticipate serving Lauren s Country School District so your donations are greatly needed and appreciated. Your donation of food products may be placed on the identified storage shelves that are housed in the Classroom immediately behind the Fellowship Hall kitchen. The children receiving weekend foods have been recommended for this provision through their individual school administrative staff; there is a sincere need. OCTOBER 7 MEAL-MEAL-PACKING EVENT Save the date and mark your calendars now for our FIPC meal packing event. This event will follow World Communion worship service and PYC monthly mission lunch. Help pack 10,000 meals in 2- hours. Last year on October 1 st, our 92-volunteers packed over 11,000 meals in 2-hours and it was a very exciting, meaningful and enjoyable time of fellowship & ministry for our congregation. There is something for everyone from 5-years old to 95-years old. RISE AGAINST HUNGER IMPACT 257,688 Meals Packaged This Week 408,077,216 Total Meals Packaged 74 Countries Served

6 1,404,110 People Served in 2017 $26.1 million Gifts in-kind Distributed in 2017 JUNE ~ SEPTEMBER 2 ~ COMBINED ADULT Christian Education Division is sponsoring Combined Sunday School Class June through August 26; then returning to the individual classes. The classes are held in the classroom directly behind the Fellowship Kitchen and begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. Dr. Jones will be leading the study on Presbyterian 101 which is a very interesting historical background of The Church and leading into Presbyterian history. We encourage everyone to attend. August 26 ~ What Else? Predestination, Social Statements, and all the Hot topic issues! SAVE THE DATE FOR CHILDREN S RETREAT September 22 & 23 "Save the date" for the Children's Retreat. This will be an overnight retreat at Camp Fellowship at Lake Greenwood on September 22nd - 23rd. This event will be open to those kids in K5-5th grade, and is a great way to introduce your child to a camp experience! Cost will be minimal and dependent on the total number of participants.
