Camp Re-NEW-ALL, the summer camp program for the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau, is now taking applications for this summer. Camp is open to campers going into 5 th -9 th grade in the fall, high school staff going into 10 th -12 th grade, and adult staff. Parents and grandparents are invited to volunteer, too! Campers are placed on a first-come, first-served basis and weeks fill quickly, so apply early. Brochures are available on the bulletin board in the hallway. This year, ALL applications are being taken electronically. 3 Totus Tuus is coming to St. Canera Parish June 16 21, 2019 What is Totus Tuus? TOTUS TUUS (Latin for Totally Yours) is a fun and energetic summer youth program for all children in elementary, middle school, and high school. The week long program is dedicated to sharing the Gospel and promoting the Catholic faith through evangelization, catechesis, Christian witness, music, activities, Eucharistic worship, and more. How is Totus Tuus Structured? There are two different programs: a Grade School Program and a Junior/Senior High School Program. The TOTUS TUUS Grade School Program is designed for children entering first through sixth grades in the upcoming school year. The children will meet Monday, June 17 through Friday, June 21 from 9:00am to 3:00pm each day. Four college age young adults and seminarians are hired and trained by our diocese to come to our parish as a missionary team. They will lead times of instruction in the faith, music, and fun activities, as well as participate in Mass and Adoration. Through their enthusiastic example of love for Jesus Christ and the Church, the missionaries inspire the young participants to seek a closer relationship with Christ as well. The same four missionaries offer an evening program for junior and senior high school youth who will be entering the 7 th through 12 th grades in the upcoming school year. These grade levels meet each night Sunday, June 16 through Thursday, June 20 from 7:30-9:45pm. The missionaries will be sharing their own witness of faith with the youth as well as leading a time of instruction, small group discussions, prayer, fellowship, and fun. This is a great opportunity for teens to encounter older peers who are on fire for their faith! Why Should You Send Your Children To Totus Tuus? Totus Tuus is a Catholic summer youth program dedicated to sharing the Gospel and promoting the Catholic Faith through catechesis, evangelization, Christian witness and Eucharistic worship. The goal of Totus Tuus is to help young people grow in the understanding of, strengthen their faith in, and develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Youth who participate in Totus Tuus not only learn more about their Catholic faith, but return home excited to live it and share it! Bishop Rice has invited other parishes in our region bring their children to participate in the Totus Tuus program at St. Canera the week of June 16-21, It promises to be a fun week not only for the children, but for the parish, too. Kevin Linehan will be the coordinator for the program at St. Canera. And, we need help from parishioners to make the program a success. A meeting is planned for Tuesday, February 19 at 7:00 PM. Please see the announcement on the next page of this bulletin for more information.

4 S t. C A N E R A N E W S Music practice is after PSR classes on Sundays or after Mass when there is no PSR. And, on Tuesdays at 6:00 PM. New voices are always welcomed. PSR classes start at 9:25 AM in the church. Volunteers Needed for Totus Tuus Please attend a meeting Tuesday, February 19 at 7:00 to see how you can help make this program successful. Totus Tuus is a oneweek youth program to be hosted by our parish June The Diocese provides the curriculum and a staff of 4 trained College Students to lead the program. As a parish we need to provide helpers, chaperones, snacks, etc. We also need to provide housing (host families) for the team of leaders. To find out how you can help please come on Tuesday or call Kevin Linehan If you haven t done so already, Please pay your subscription for The Mirror. The subscription is $14 for the year. Thank you if you have already paid Scholarships The St. Canera PCCW are accepting applications for the 2019 Scholarships. There are two scholarships of $150 each, one for traditional students (18-23) and one for non-traditional students (23 +). Applications are in the parish vestibule and should be returned to the parish office by March 5, For more details, call Diane Strouss NURSERY It s a wonderful thing that St. Canera has been blessed with new families, new babies and children. We are looking into starting a nursery during the 8:00 AM Mass. We are still in the planning stages, and we would like to see a show of interest for this project. Please add your name to the sign-up sheet on the table in the vestibule if you would like to see us start a nursery at the 8:00 AM Mass. If you have any questions, please see Nancy Rowse, Tricia Coffey, or call the office. CATHOLICISM Faith Formation Program Did you miss the fall class? Well, we re offering the second session during Lent. Come join us as we follow Bishop Baron and learn about: The Mystical Union of Christ and the Church The Mystery of the Liturgy and the Eucharist The Communion of the Saints Prayer and the Life of the Spirit The Last Things: Death, Judgment, Hell and Heaven Each class will last for about 1 ½ hours. Cost is $10, members from Fall class are exempt. Classes are on: Tuesdays March 12-April 9 at 5:15pm Thursdays March 7-April 4 at 9:30 am All classes meet in the 2nd grade classroom The Sign-up sheet is in the Narthex.
