The Mission Choir Candlelight Meditation Congratulations Gene Regard (Choir Director), Howard McCullough and our Mission Choir for bringing such beautiful music to our church this Christmas. Both nights the church was overflowing with parishioners, their families and friends enjoying this wonderful Christmas program. Nazareth Girl Scouts Jacket Project Another thoughtful project from our Girl Scouts, collecting jackets for the needy this winter. The parish response was great! Thank you everyone for your support. Our Lady of Guadalupe A big thank you to our Knights of Columbus Council 9498 who raised $2,000 with the Tamale Dinner in support of the activities of our Parish Youth. The Giving Tree Thank you Joyce and Paul Desrochers and the Social Action Committee for taking charge of our Catholic Charities project, the Giving Tree. Through our parishioners generosity we were able to bring Christmas to a lot of children. Parish Office will be closed Monday, December 25. Gift Shop will be closed December 24 at 3:30 pm and December Christmas Obligation This year there are consecutive Mass obligations for the Fourth Sunday of Advent (December 24) and The Nativity of the Lord (December 25) and they should be fulfilled by attending one Mass for each of the two separate obligations. Attending a Vigil of the Nativity of the Lord Mass after 4pm will fulfill your obligation for December 25; however that does not fulfill your Sunday obligation. 3 Bereavement Ministry Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. - Matthew 5:4 The Bereavement Ministry members wish you and your family a holy, blessed and peaceful Christmas season. Mission Mothers of Faith Moms of young children come make new friends while the kids play at our regular morning and afternoon Bible Study and Play dates. Centering Prayer - Centering Prayer is a method of silent prayer in which we experience God s presence within us. This method of prayer is both a discipline and a relationship with God. The focus of this prayer is a deepening of our relationship with the Living Christ. We meet every Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:15 pm in the California Room of the St. Francis Center. 5 GOD S PROMISE The lengthy passage from Samuel is a wonderful exposition of God s promise to the house of David: that his throne would forever be gloriously occupied by his descendants. Hidden in the mystery of the prophecy is the promise of the Savior, the Messiah, Son of God and Son of David. The prophet Nathan, speaking in God s name, poetically turns around David s plan to build a house for God, and announces God s plan to build a house, that is, a dynasty for David. From this house of David will come the Messiah, the Christ, not in kingly splendor as David ruled, but as a humble man, destined to rule forever and over all.
