SAVED BY THE ONE WHO WAS REJECTED Some city teenagers often scorn and reject farm kids. Yet it's no exaggeration to say that humanity owes its life to farmers who care for the world's crops and livestock. This week's scriptures remind us that Jesus was as rejected as a shepherd, a farm boy, yet we owe our very lives to him. In this Sunday's reading from the Acts of the Apostles Peter tells the people that salvation comes through Jesus Christ, the one who was rejected. In John's letter we hear that we have become God's beloved children through Jesus, whom the world did not know. Lastly, in the Gospel Jesus describes himself as the Good Shepherd who "lays down his life for the sheep" (John 10:11). Will you join Jesus in laying down your life for God's beloved flock? 4 SUMMER LAWN MOWING JOB AT OLHR CHURCH Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church needs someone to mow and trim our church lawn and cemeteries in Richmond this summer. This is a great part time job requiring hours a week. We have all the mowers and equipment needed. You must be at least 16 years old to apply for this job. Leclerc Memorial Scholarship award to an eligible graduating high school senior or college undergraduate student. Interested applicants must determine their eligibility by first reviewing the scholarship materials which can be downloaded from the IHM website on the K of C page. April 18th is Rice Memorial High School's firstever Day of Giving a great chance to rally the Rice-Cathedral community in a powerful show of support and gratitude for the school during its 100th anniversary. Harlow will celebrate a special Mass of Thanksgiving on Tuesday May 8 at 6:00PM at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Windsor (his hometown parish) in honor of his silver jubilee of ordination to the priesthood. The Select Choir from the Kurn Hattin Homes for Children will provide music for the Mass. You are all personally invited to attend. GOLF TOURNAMENT Rice Memorial High School will hold its 18th Annual Rice-Cathedral Alumni Association Golf Tournament on June 22, 2018 at Rocky Ridge Golf Course in St. George at 9:00 AM. Worldwide Marriage Encounter Like in the gospel today, sometimes our minds need to be opened to know what God has done for us, and what he wants for us in our marriage. We are about to start our spring direct mail campaign and could use some help addressing envelopes. Do you have some time to spare? We can deliver letters and envelopes to your home, or maybe get together with friends and make a party of it? You will be helping us to reach more people and help spread the word about our organization. Please call or occc@gmavt.net to volunteer. The campaign runs from April through the end of May.
