2 IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY October 15, 2017 Twenty-Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time NATIONAL CATHOLIC YOUTH CONFERENCE This weekend one of our students, Tiferes Simcoe, spoke about her intended trip to the conference in Indianapolis. We are so fortunate to have a student so invested in her faith. Please help in any way you can. Bring you car over next weekend and have the Confirmation students give it a good wash! JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT Come see CVU's performance of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, at least 5 members of the parish in the show. The performance dates are October 27th and 28th at 7:30 and Sunday the 29th at 2:00. Mark your calendars. You won't want to miss this bright and fabulous technicolor experience. Some needs are seasonal or on a weekly or monthly basis. No one will be pressured to do anything they are not comfortable doing, or pressured to give more time than they desire. Please consider adding your name to the volunteer list. We will you as needs arise and you have the opportunity to fulfill the need, or not. The Sisters of Mercy are holding their annual Mercy Bazaar on Saturday, October 28, 9:00 AM. - 2:00 PM The bazaar features home grown/canned goods of many varieties, fudge, and new or gently used items including books, toys, knit goods, household items, decorations and much more. The bazaar will be held in the Mater Christi School elementary building, 50 Mansfield Ave. Burlington, VT. Please make plans to drop in! The Diocese of Burlington is publishing a revised 2017 edition of the Policies on Ethics and Integrity in Ministry, which comes out of the Office of Safe Environment Programs. These policies outline the standards that Church personnel (as defined in the policy) must follow to comply with diocesan child safety guidelines relating to child abuse training, background checks, reporting procedures, and more. This policy revision also includes updated versions of the two Codes of Conduct. These new policies and Codes of Conduct are incorporated into all Safe and Sacred training courses. Each week, the first page of the website features a program called "Opening the Word", which provides a short study guide for the readings of the following Sunday. There is a short video that explains the overarching theme of the readings as well as questions and daily reflections. Take some time and look at it this week! PRAYER FOR PEACE Lord, we pray for the power to be gentle; the strength to be forgiving; the patience to be understanding; and the endurance to accept the consequences of holding to what we believe to be right. May we put our trust in the power of good to overcome evil and the power of love to overcome hatred. We pray for the vision to see and the faith to believe in a world emancipated from violence, a new world where fear shall no longer lead men to commit injustice, nor selfishness make them bring suffering to others. Help us to devote our whole life and thought and energy to the task of making peace, praying always for the inspiration and the power to fulfill the destiny for which we and all men were created.
