Most parishioners--even though all are welcome at any me to a end--don't follow these proceedings too closely. Topics of concern--some major, some not so major--are discussed at each mee ng. For example, the school administra on and the board are currently discussing ways to promote and market our parish school. As the lives of our parish families change, we do our best to serve them and their evolving needs. At a recent Finance Commi ee mee ng, we discussed a strategic plan to priori ze the building and repair needs for our facili es and our campus. And at a recent Parish Council mee ng, we talked about evangeliza on and efforts to welcome new parishioners into our parish family. At this mee ng, they offered to host an Open House in our convent building so that parishioners would see the repairs and improvements made to the convent a er the recent flood. While all these boards are consulta ve to the pastor, not delibera ve, the ideas they bring forward and the work they do is essen al to the ongoing vitality of our parish. For their generosity and their exper se, I am very grateful. God s blessings for a great week! Thank you to anyone who helped with the men's retreat in any way. 6 Ministry of the Month Join Holy Infant Parish s Greeter Ministry! You ve probably no ced our friendly greeters welcoming you into church each week. Our mission is to welcome all visitors and parishioners with a warm smile and gracious spirit as we come together as a church family for Mass. We are looking for more greeters to join our ministry. The commitment is once a month for about 15 minutes before Mass begins. It s a great way to get the whole family involved. All ages are welcome. You can pick up a blessed Prayer Shawl in the Adora on Chapel 24/7; in the usher's closet in church during the weekend Masses, or at the rectory during the weekday business hours. 8 RCIA The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults Come, Ask, and Learn about the Catholic Church! We invite you to come and ask all those questions you have about Catholicism and the Church in general and in a no pressure setting. RCIA is a dynamic faithbuilding process designed to help you learn more about yourself, our God, and the Catholic faith community. The RCIA is for those who are: Unbaptized These people follow a process that helps them both grow in their awareness of God's call and find ways to respond to that call. They are referred to as Catechumens. Baptized in another Christian Church These are people from a Christian faith tradition who are seeking full communion with the Roman Catholic Church through Eucharist and Confirmation. They are referred to as Candidates. Baptized but Uncatechized Catholics These are adults who were baptized in the Catholic Church, but not brought up or educated in the Catholic tradition. Also referred to as Candidates, they prepare to celebrate the sacraments of Reconciliation, Confirmation, and Eucharist. He is a member of the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, where he has taught and served as a member of various commi ees. In addi on, for the last 37 years, he has been a member of the Alleluia Community, a lay ecumenical Chris an Community with the Canonical Status in the Roman Catholic Church, where he has served and provided leadership. The Miracle Healing Team from the Alleluia Community will provide ministry during the Miracle Healing Service. This team was trained by Damian Stayne who has an interna onal ministry in healing. There have been miraculous healings reported as a result of their ministry through Jesus, in the power of the Holy Spirit, to the glory of God the Father. On Saturday, September 30 th, Holy Infant will host a Stephen Ministry Introductory Workshop from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The half-day workshop is designed both to enhance par cipants caregiving skills and to help congrega ons explore ways to expand their caring ministry. Registra on begins at 8:00 a.m. and refreshments will be served. One reason we re so excited about helping other congrega ons learn about Stephen Ministry is that it is making a significant difference in the life of our own congrega on. Since we began Stephen Ministry in 1996, over 100 laypeople have gone through 50 hours of training in order to provide quality one-to-one Chris an care to hur ng people. 9 Knights of Columbus Tootsie Roll Drive The Knights of Columbus will be handing out Tootsie Rolls and collec ng money for the Developmentally Disabled the weekend of September 30 and October 1. Proceeds go to the Developmental Center at Cardinal Glennon Children s Hospital as well as other local chari es that assist those with developmental challenges. Thank you for your generosity. Thursday, October 5 at 10 am Doors open at 9, come early to socialize! Come to the October Seniors' meeting and hear Holocaust survivor, Siegfried Adler's story of survival during the Nazi regime. Mr. Adler is a much sought after speaker from the St. Louis Holocaust Museum and Learning Center. Come and be informed as well as enjoy the fellowship of other HIS members. Do you like working with children? Children's Liturgy of the Word is a great and rewarding way to get involved and we are in desperate need of leaders and assistants for the upcoming school year. CLOW is a unique and fun ministry which teaches the weekly gospel and message to children in first through fourth grade. Mom and Daughter teams will be there each 10:15 a.m. week to watch your li le ones. During your children s me in the nursery, they will hear a simple bible story and sing some bible songs and play with fun toys. They will also interact and play with children in their age group and get to know other children of the parish.
