4 PAGE 4 29 th Sunday of Ordinary Time Year B-Oct. 21, 2018 Do we want to drink the cup? When I was in college I had a brilliant classmate, who was very good at sciences and programming. One time when we were talking about our dreams and career goals this classmate shared that his goal in life was not to accumulate a lot of money, but he would like to invent something useful, so people would remember him whenever they use his product. The desire to be recognized...to become famous to be known... is universal. We often fantasize about becoming famous by writing the bestselling novel, having a lot of money, inventing disruptive technologies or breaking Drew Brees NFL record. We want the spotlight to shine on us. We want others talk about us. And we want the glory. As we reflect on the Gospel ST. JOHN OF CAPISTRANO reading for this weekend we have a periscope where James and John, two of Jesus inner circle asked Him for the seat of glory without knowing the cost of such place. Jesus asked them Can you drink the cup that I drink or be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized? Without understanding or thinking through they replied with an equivocal yes we can for they did not realize the cup that Jesus was talking about filled to the brim with sorrow and suffering and that the baptism that Jesus offered was done in the river of sacrificial love. Recalling that when Jesus was being faced with his own cup in the Garden of Gethsemane, He was fearful and prayed that God the Father would take away the cup of sorrow and suffering from Him. Jesus took this opportunity to teach all the disciples that true power and glory was found in the service we render other people for whoever wishes to be great...will be the servant. He showed us that true glory was found on the cross, and true greatness was expressed at the Last Supper when He took on the role of a servant by bending down to wash the feet of the disciples. James and John wanted the honor of sitting on the right and left of Jesus. That honor was not given to them, rather it was given to the two criminals who were crucified on the cross next to Jesus, and one of them accepted it with humility. He was admitted into the kingdom of heaven that very day while the other refused the honor by ridiculing Jesus. The kingdom of God is not about seat of honor, power, or recognition. It is about sacrificial love and service that we render to our brothers and sisters in the name of Christ by our willingness to carry their cross and share their sorrow and suffering. This is the cup that Jesus offers us. Do we want to share this cup with our Lord? 7 Vigésimo Noveno Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario. Ciclo B Podrán beber de esta copa? Cuando estaba en la universidad tenía un compañero brillante, que era muy bueno en ciencias y programación. Una vez, cuando hablábamos de nuestros sueños y metas profesionales, este compañero de clase compartió que su objetivo en la vida no era acumular mucho dinero, sino que le gustaría inventar algo útil, para que la gente lo recuerde cada vez que use su producto. El deseo de ser reconocido... de ser famoso... de ser conocido... es universal. A menudo fantaseamos con ser famosos al escribir la novela más vendida, tener mucho dinero, inventar tecnologías disruptivas o romper el récord de Drew Brees en la NFL. Queremos que el foco de atención brille sobre nosotros. Queremos que otros hablen de nosotros. Y queremos la gloria. 21 OCTUBRE 2018 PAGE 7 Al reflexionar sobre la lectura del Evangelio para este fin de semana, tenemos un periscopio en el que Santiago y Juan, dos del círculo íntimo de Jesús, le pidieron el lugar de la gloria sin saber el costo de ese lugar. Jesús les preguntó: " Puedes beber la copa que bebo o ser bautizado con el bautismo con el que me bautizo?" Sin entender o pensar, respondieron con un "sí" equívoco que podemos porque no se dieron cuenta de la copa que Jesús era hablando de lleno hasta el tope con dolor y sufrimiento y que el bautismo que Jesús ofreció fue hecho en el río del amor sacrificial. Recordando que cuando Jesús se enfrentaba con su propia copa en el Jardín de Getsemaní, tuvo miedo y oró para que Dios el Padre le quitara la copa de dolor y sufrimiento. Jesús aprovechó esta oportunidad para enseñar a todos los discípulos que el verdadero poder y la gloria se encontraron en el servicio que brindamos a otras personas para que "quien quiera ser grande... sea el sirviente"., y la verdadera grandeza se expresó en la última cena cuando asumió el papel de sirviente al agacharse para lavar los pies de los discípulos. Santiago y Juan querían el honor de sentarse a la derecha e izquierda de Jesús. No se les dio ese honor, sino que se les dio a los dos criminales que fueron crucificados en la cruz junto a Jesús, y uno de ellos lo aceptó con humildad. Fue admitido en el reino de los cielos ese mismo día, mientras que el otro rechazó el honor ridiculizando a Jesús. El reino de Dios no se trata de un lugar de honor, poder o reconocimiento. Se trata del amor sacrificial y el servicio que prestamos a nuestros hermanos y hermanas en el nombre de Cristo por nuestra disposición a llevar su cruz y compartir su dolor y sufrimiento. Esta es la copa que Jesús nos ofrece. Queremos compartir esta copa con nuestro Señor? OCTUBRE ES EL MES DEL ROSARIO Método Para Rezar El Santo Rosario: 1. Haga la Señal de la Cruz. 2. 8 PAGE 8 Chúa Nhật 29 Quanh Năm- Ngày 21 Tháng 10, năm 2018 B Các ngươi có thể uống chén này không? Khi còn ở đại học, tôi có một người bạn rất thông minh, rất giỏi về khoa học và phương trình. Lần kia khi nói chuyện về ước mơ và mục đích của nghề nghiệp, người bạn này chia sẻ rằng mục đích của đời của anh không phải là để có nhiều tiền, nhưng anh muốn sáng chế một cái gì hữu ích, để người ta có thể nhớ đến anh mỗi khi họ xử dụng sáng chế của anh. Ước muốn được nhận biết để trở thành nổi tiếng để được biết đến là điều thông thường. Chúng ta thường mơ tưởng trở thành nổi tiếng qua việc viết sách bán chạy nhất, hay có nhiều tiền, đầu tư vào những kỹ thuật, hay phá vỡ kỷ lục Banh Bầu Dục. Chúng ta mơ đèn rọi soi chiếu trên chúng ta thôi. Chúng ta muốn người khác nói về chúng ta. Chúng ta muốn vinh quang. Suy gẫm về bài đọc Phúc Âm tuần này, chúng ta thấy một khung cảnh nơi mà Gioan và Giacôbê, hai người thân cận của Chúa Giêsu xin Ngài cho được ngồi trong vinh quang mà không cần biết đến giá phải trả cho chỗ đứng như thế. Chúa Giêsu hỏi họ, Các ngươi có thể uống chén Ta uống hay chịu phép rửa mà Ta sẽ chịu không? Chả cần suy nghĩ và hiểu biết trước đã, họ đã trả lời với sự quả quyết dạ chúng con có thể vì họ không nhận ra chén mà Chúa Giêsu đã nói về việc đổ đầy tới miệng với đau buồn và khổ nhục và rằng phép rửa mà Chúa Giêsu trao ban được thực hiện trong dòng sông tình yêu hi sinh. Nhớ lại khi Chúa Giêsu đối diện với chén đắng trong vườn Giệtsimani, Ngài đã lo sợ và cầu xin với Thiên Chúa Cha cất chén sầu và khổ khỏi Ngài. Chúa Giêsu nhân dịp này đã dạy cho các tông đồ rằng quyền thế và vinh quang thực sự được tìm thấy trong sự phục vụ chúng ta đem lại cho người khác vì ai muốn trở nên cao trọng sẽ là người phục vụ. Ngài chỉ cho chúng ta vinh quang thực sự được tìm thấy trên cây thập giá, và sự cao trọng thực sự được diễn tả trong Bữa Tiệc Ly khi Ngài chấp nhận vai trò đầy tớ qua việc cúi xuống rửa chân cho các môn đệ. Giacôbê và Gioan đã muốn niềm hãnh diện ngồi về trái và bên phải Chúa Giêsu. Vinh dự đó không dành cho họ, mà dành cho hai tên phạm nhân chịu đóng đanh hai bên Chúa Giêsu, và một trong hai người đã chấp nhận điều đó với lòng khiêm tốn. Ông đã được nhận vào thiên đàng ngay ngày ấy trong khi người kia từ chối vinh quanh bằng cách mỉa mai Chúa Giêsu. Nước Thiên Chúa không phải là vấn đề chỗ ngồi vinh quang, quyền lực, hay nhận biết. Mà là tình yêu hi sinh và phục vụ chúng ta dành cho anh chị em nhân danh Đức Kitô qua việc chúng ta muốn vác thánh giá và đau khổ và sầu thương của người khác. Đây là chén mà Chúa Giêsu trao cho chúng ta. Chúng ta có muốn chia sẻ chén này với Thiên Chúa không? SINH HOẠT CỘNG ĐOÀN Xin anh chị em Giáo Xứ Blessed Sacrament khi đi mua bán tại siêu thị Saigon City Market Place, vui lòng nói số #34 khi trả tiền. Chợ Saigon City sẽ gửi lại Giáo Xứ 5% trên số hàng qui định. Mỗi khi anh chị em dùng bữa tại nhà hàng Hoa Cau, xin vui lòng nói rằng anh chị em đến từ cộng đoàn giáo xứ, và nhà hàng sẽ dành 10 % cho quĩ xã hội. Chân thành cám ơn anh chị em. Ca đoàn Ngàn Thông cần đón nhận thêm ca viên nam. Xin quí ông/anh vui lòng nghe tiếng Chúa gọi và tham gia ca đoàn. Ca đoàn Ngàn Thông hát lễ 5:45 pm mỗi Chúa Nhật. Cho tới giờ này, số tiền hứa đã lên tới gần 11triệu. Số tiền đóng đã được gần 8 triệu. Tượng Đức Mẹ đã được hai ân nhân ẩn danh dâng cúng 1 triệu đôla và đã được đặt khắc bên Ý. Riêng tại cộng đoàn chúng ta, số tiền hứa đã lên tới 1 triệu 700 ngàn, và tiền đóng đã được 1 triệu 350 ngàn. Tạ ơn Thiên Chúa. Xin anh chị em hòa tất lời hứa để địa phận sớm có được số tiền của chúng ta khi xây dựng linh đài. Nếu mọi sự thuận tiện, Linh Đài Đức Mẹ sẽ cùng khánh thành trong ngày địa phận khánh thành Nhà Thờ Chính Tòa ngày 17 Tháng Bảy năm Nhiều gia đình đã dâng cúng cho Linh Đài. Chúng ta cùng nhau kết thúc số tiền hứa để công trình xây dựng không bị dán đoạn. Đây là lúc con cháu tri ân cha mẹ ông bà để tên của các ngài có dưới chân Đức Mẹ mỗi khi có người thăm viếng đọc kinh cầu nguyện. Xin nhớ cho là để được khắc tên dưới chân Đức Mẹ, địa phận xin đóng góp số tiền tối thiểu là $ Xin anh chị em liên lạc với các cha hay văn phòng nếu anh chị em muốn dâng cúng. Tuần này chợ nhỏ mang lại cho Giáo Xứ và chương trình Mẹ La Vang số tiền $ Cám ơn rất nhiều gia đình anh chị em đã chở những ống lon, và ve chai đến căn Nhà Xã Hội để đóng góp cho chương trình giúp đỡ người nghèo. Khi có nhiều ông lon và quà tặng cần chuyên chở, xin liên lạc với Ông Chủ Tịch Ngân tại số hay Anh Quang tại số Cũng xin anh chị em mang tiền Cents đến căn nhà xã hội. Anh chị em vui lòng ghi dành và xử dụng phong thư trong các đóng góp cho giáo xứ và giáo phận. Là thành phần của giáo xứ, anh chị em được hưởng mọi quyền lợi khi có nhu cầu Bí Tích hay mục vụ. Các linh mục có trách nhiệm ưu tiên cho những giáo dân thuộc giáo xứ giáo dân ghi danh. Mỗi ngày anh chị em đóng tiền niên liễm, nguyệt liễm, tiền thuế này kia số tiền này tăng lên theo thời giá, theo ngày tháng. Xin anh chị em suy nghĩ về việc gửi lại Thiên Chúa hàng tuần như một lời tạ ơn. Xin đề nghị mỗi gia đình/phong thư cám ơn Thiên Chúa cụ thể với số tiền $10.00 trở lên. Chân thành! Mỗi khi có người thân nhập bệnh viện, xin anh chị em nhờ y tá mời linh mục của giáo xứ trách nhiệm gần nhà thương nhất. Ví dụ: Nhà thương Fountain Valley và Orange Coast do Nhà Thánh Linh chịu trách nhiệm. Khi nhập viện, cần xức dầu nên gọi linh mục Nhà thờ Thánh Linh. Khi nhập viện nhà thương Garden Grove, hay UCI, xin gọi linh mục Nhà Thờ Chính Tòa. Khi nhập viện nhà thương Kindrid Westminster, thì các linh mục Nhà Thờ Westminster chịu trách nhiệm. Sau đó, nếu gia đình cần linh mục thăm hỏi thêm, thì có thể liên lạc linh mục của giáo xứ ghi danh. Những bông hoa chung quanh nhà thờ là để trang trí và tôn vinh Thiên Chúa, Đức Mẹ và các thánh.
