4 PAGE 4 The Twenty Seventh Sunday in Ordinary time "Is it lawful for a husband to divorce his wife?" We live during the time in which many people feel the integrity of family and marriage are under attack by divorce and cohabitation, with many young people no longer believing in embracing the sacrament of marriage, and by living together as unmarried couples. Today s liturgical readings are about the meaning of creation and human life through the relationship of marriage. It reminds us that human beings were not made to be alone. We are created for one another. We are made for communion in such a way that every relationship brings us closer to our destination of joining together with the Lord. The first reading shows us that marriage is a treatment for loneliness. It also reminds us that true marriage requires an intimate union that is imperishable: The two became one flesh. In Mark s Gospel, when the Pharisees asked Jesus for his thoughts about divorce, He turned their question into a discussion of the dignity of the human person. He reminds us that each person is made for loving God and for loving one another. Our Lord ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI Jesus goes beyond divorce to teach us that the meaning of a relationship, in general, is to bring each other closer to God. Jesus showed them that their question of righteousness could not be resolved by a fixed rule which applied only to specific circumstances. Jesus constantly looked beyond the ground of legality. He invited us to reflect and discern God s will which promotes life giving relationships in every situation. He makes clear that marriage is a holy sacrament and that it is not subjected to human will to override God s intention in creation. Marriage is one of many ways of God s desire for us to achieve holiness. His dream has been fulfilled by the imperfect world which we live in. God s teaching can be challenging for many of us, because in reality, many of us have observed relatives and friends whose marriages have not been a lifelong commitment. Surveys have showed that in America about fifty percent of first marriages and eighty percent of re-marriages ended in divorce. We may also know of divorced Catholics who want to be in full communion with the Church. However, many find themselves unintentionally excluded by us and by the Church. The United State Bishops have made marriage a national pastoral initiative recently, in a move that could open the door to allow some divorced and remarried Catholics to receive communion, in support of the recent teaching by Pope Francis regarding these special circumstances. In the meantime, during this week, let us pray for two special intentions. First, let us thank God, for couples who are married and continue to live in relationships that are both generous and equal, for the grace they may continue to receive each day to honor their wedding promises, and for happiness in the gift of intimacy and companionship. Second, let us especially pray for those who experience the pains of divorce and those who suffer the loss of hopes and dreams. Together let us ask God to give them the grace of hope, courage, and consolation. Finally, the most important point the readings today wants us to remember and reflect on is, very clearly, that NO ONE - not a disagreeable spouse, not a helpless child, not a poor refugee immigrant and not even a criminal - is disposable in the eyes of God. 6 PAGE 6 Pennies from Heaven In conjunction with the Diocese of Orange Respect Life Month in October, Bishop Kevin Vann has designated Sunday, October 7th, 2018 as our Diocese's 24th Annual Pennies from Heaven Campaign. Since 1994, the Diocese of Orange has been collecting funds to support local Respect Life shelters, clinics, and centers that give immediate and long-term care to Orange County women, and families in crisis. Please consider donating your coins and dollars to help men, women, and children in such crises in our community. Roof Repair The Church Reroofing project has started and is estimated to take approximately six weeks. 7 Vigésimo Séptimo Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario. Ciclo B " Es legal que un esposo se divorcie de su esposa?" Vivimos durante el tiempo en que muchas personas sienten que la integridad de la familia y el matrimonio están siendo atacadas por el divorcio y la convivencia, con muchos jóvenes que ya no creen en el sacramento del matrimonio y que viven juntos como parejas no casadas. Las lecturas litúrgicas de hoy son sobre el significado de la creación y la vida humana a través de la relación del matrimonio. Nos recuerda que los seres humanos no estaban hechos para estar solos. Estamos creados el uno para el otro. Estamos hechos para la comunión de tal manera que cada relación nos acerca a nuestro destino de unirnos al Señor. La primera lectura nos muestra que el matrimonio es un tratamiento para la soledad. También nos recuerda que el verdadero matrimonio requiere una unión íntima imperecedera: "Los dos se hicieron una sola carne". En el Evangelio de Marcos, cuando los fariseos le preguntaron a Jesús por sus pensamientos sobre el divorcio, convirtió su pregunta en una discusión sobre la dignidad de la persona humana. Él nos recuerda que cada 30 SEPTIEMBRE 2018 PAGE 7 persona está hecha para amar a Dios y amarse unos a otros. Nuestro Señor Jesús va más allá del divorcio para enseñarnos que el significado de una relación, en general, es acercarse unos a otros a Dios. Jesús les mostró que su pregunta sobre la justicia no podía ser resuelta por una regla fija que se aplicaba solo a circunstancias específicas. Jesús constantemente miraba más allá del terreno de la legalidad. Él nos invitó a reflexionar y discernir la voluntad de Dios que promueve relaciones que dan vida en cada situación. Él deja en claro que el matrimonio es un sacramento sagrado y que no está sujeto a la voluntad humana de anular la intención de Dios en la creación. El matrimonio es una de las muchas formas en que Dios desea que alcancemos la santidad. Su sueño ha sido cumplido por el mundo imperfecto en el que vivimos. La enseñanza de Dios puede ser un desafío para muchos de nosotros, porque en realidad, muchos de nosotros hemos observado a parientes y amigos cuyos matrimonios no han sido un compromiso de por vida. Las encuestas han demostrado que en América, aproximadamente el cincuenta por ciento de los primeros matrimonios y el ochenta por ciento de los nuevos matrimonios terminaron en divorcio. También podemos saber de los católicos divorciados que desean estar en plena comunión con la Iglesia. Sin embargo, muchos se encuentran involuntariamente excluidos por nosotros y por la Iglesia. Los Obispos de los Estados Unidos han convertido el matrimonio en una iniciativa pastoral nacional recientemente, en un movimiento que podría abrir la puerta para permitir que algunos católicos divorciados y casados puedan recibir la comunión, en apoyo de la reciente enseñanza del Papa Francisco con respecto a estas circunstancias especiales. Mientras tanto, durante esta semana, recemos por dos intenciones especiales. Primero, déjenos dar gracias a Dios, por las parejas que están casadas y continúan viviendo en relaciones que son a la vez generosas e iguales, por la gracia que pueden seguir recibiendo cada día para honrar sus promesas matrimoniales, y por la felicidad en el regalo de la intimidad y compañerismo. Segundo, recemos especialmente por aquellos que experimentan los dolores del divorcio y aquellos que sufren la pérdida de esperanzas y sueños. Juntos, pidamos a Dios que les dé la gracia de la esperanza, el valor y la consolación. Finalmente, el punto más importante que las lecturas de hoy quieren que recordemos y reflejemos es, muy claramente, que NADIE - no un cónyuge desagradable, ni un niño indefenso, ni un inmigrante refugiado pobre ni siquiera un criminal - es desechable en el ojos de Dios. 8 PAGE 8 Chúa Nhật 27 Quanh Năm ngày mùng 7 tháng Mười năm 2018 B Luật có cho phép người chồng li dị vợ mình không? Chúng ta đang sống trong thời đại mà nhiều người cảm thấy rằng nền tảng gia đình và hôn nhân đang bị đánh phá do sự li dị và việc nam nữ sống chung, từ việc nhiều người trẻ không còn tin và trân quí bí tích hôn phối, và qua việc họ sống chung với nhau như những đôi vợ chồng không cần cưới hỏi. Các bài đọc phụng vụ hôm nay nói về ý nghĩa việc tạo dựng và cuộc sống con người qua liên hệ hôn nhân. Điều này nhắc nhở chúng ta rằng nhân loại được dựng nên không để sống một mình. Chúng ta được dựng nên cho nhau. Chúng ta được tạo dựng trong sự liên đới đến nỗi mỗi liên hệ đều đem chúng ta lại gần nhau hơn, cùng đi đến mục đích chung là liên kết với nhau trong Chúa. Bài đọc thứ nhất chỉ cho chúng ta thấy rằng hôn nhân là liều thuốc chữa sự cô độc. Nó cũng nhắc nhở chúng ta rằng hôn nhân thực sự đòi hỏi sự liên kết mật thiết không thể tiêu tan được: Cả hai trở nên một thân thể. Trong Phúc Âm Marcô, khi người Pharisiêu hỏi Chúa Giêsu về ý nghĩa của việc li dị, Ngài đã đổi câu hỏi của thành một đề tài đối chất về giá trị của nhân tính con người. Ngài nhắc nhở cho chúng ta biết rằng mỗi người được dựng nên để yêu Chúa và để yêu thương nhau. Chúa Giêsu của chúng ta đã vượt trên li dị để dạy chúng ta ý nghĩa của một tình liên đới, tổng quát, là đem chúng ta lại gần hơn với Chúa. Chúa Giêsu chỉ cho họ thấy rằng câu hỏi tự kiêu của họ sẽ không bao giờ giải quyết được bởi một luật lệ cố định mà chỉ có thể áp dụng được vào một số hoàn cảnh đặc biệt thôi. Chúa Giêsu luôn luôn nhìn vượt qua nền tảng duy luật. Ngài nhắc nhở chúng ta suy nghĩ và tìm kiếm ý muốn của Thiên Chúa, luôn khuyến khích liên hệ trao ban sự sống trong bất cứ hoàn cảnh nào. Ngài nói rõ rằng hôn nhân là một bí tích thánh thiện và rằng hôn nhân không thể để tùy ý muốn của con người xóa bỏ ý định của Thiên Chúa khi sáng tạo. Hôn nhân là một trong nhiều cách sống của ý muốn do Thiên Chúa dành cho con người đạt tới sự thánh thiện. Ý định của Ngài đã được thực hiện trong một thế giới bất toàn chúng ta đang sống. Những giáo huấn của Thiên Chúa có thể là những thử thách cho nhiều người trong chúng ta, vì thực thế, nhiều người chúng ta chứng kiến hôn nhân của nhiều thân nhân và bạn bè đã không là một lời thề cả đời. Thống kê cho thấy rằng 50 phần trăm của những hôn nhân lần đầu, và 80 phần trăm của những hôn nhân lần hai đã kết thúc trong li dị. Chúng ta cũng biết đến những anh chị em Công Giáo li dị ước muốn kết hiệp với Giáo Hội. Tuy nhiên, nhiều anh chị em đã vô tình loại bỏ chính họ ra khỏi chúng ta và Giáo Hội. Mới đây, Hội Đồng Giám Mục Công Giáo Hoa Kỳ đã làm cho hôn nhân, một sáng kiến mục vụ toàn quốc, trong một cố gắng mong mở cửa để cho phép những anh chị em Công Giáo đã li dị và tái hôn được rước lễ, ủng hộ giáo huấn mới đây của Đức Giáo Hoàng Phanxicô liên quan đến những hoàn cảnh riêng biệt. Trong khi chờ đợi, tuần này, chúng ta hãy cầu xin cho hai ý nguyện đặc biệt. Thứ nhất, hãy tạ ơn Thiên Chúa, cho những đôi hôn nhân đã kết hôn và tiếp tục sống trong tình liên kết để họ tiếp tục rộng lượng và bình đẳng, để họ tiếp tục đón nhận từng ngày ân sủng để kính trọng lời hứa hôn ước của họ, và cho niềm vui trong món quà thân mật và tri kỷ. Thứ hai, chúng ta cầu cho những ai cảm nghiệm sự đau đớn của việc li dị và những ai đau khổ về sự mất mát hi vọng và ước mơ. Cùng nhau, chúng ta cầu xin Thiên Chúa cho những anh chị em này ân sủng của hi vọng, can đảm và ủi an. Cuối cùng, điều quan trọng nhất trong các bài đọc hôm nay đòi hỏi chúng ta hãy nhớ và suy niệm rất rõ là, KHÔNG AI, kể cả người phối ngẫu bất bình, không một em bé yếu đuối, kể cả một người tỵ nạn, di dân nghèo khổ, ngay cả một tội phạm, có thể bị hủy bỏ trong đôi mắt của Thiên Chúa. SINH HOẠT CỘNG ĐOÀN Mỗi ngày chúng ta đều phải ăn uống. Thức ăn có được do việc chúng ta đi chợ mỗi tuần. Xin anh chị em Giáo Xứ Blessed Sacrament khi đi mua sắm tại siêu thị Saigon City Market Place, vui lòng nói số #34 khi trả tiền. Chợ Saigon City sẽ gửi lại Giáo Xứ 5% trên số hàng qui định. Xin anh chị em nhắc đến số #34 khi trả tiền. * Khi dùng bữa tại nhà hàng Hoa Cau gần nhà thờ, xin anh chị em nói với người thâu ngân anh chị em là giáo dân của nhà thờ và cộng đoàn sẽ nhận 10% tiền huê hồng. Chân thành cám ơn! Chợ nhỏ rất cần sự giúp đỡ của quí anh để chuẩn bị và thu hàng quà ra vào.mỗi ngày thứ Bảy từ 9-10 giờ tối, Chúa Nhật từ 7-8 giờ tối. Xin liên lạc với Anh Chị Thiết-Chi tại số phôn Mỗi khi anh chị em có trái ngon quả ngọt, rau tươi, hay bất cứ rau thơm trái tốt nào muốn chia sẻ với chợ nhỏ đến với gia đình cộng đoàn, xin cũng liên lạc với anh chị Thiết-Chi tại số điện thoại trên để sắp xếp việc đón nhận. Xin Chúa chúc lành cho những anh chị em thiện nguyện và gia đình. Ngày 27 tháng 10 tới đây, Đức Giám Mục Kevin Vann và Đức Giám Mục Nguyễn Thái Thành sẽ cử hành lễ đặt viên đá đầu tiên xây dựng linh đài Đức Mẹ La Vang. Cho tới giờ này, số tiền hứa đã lên tới 10 triệu 500 ngàn. Số tiền đóng đã được 7 triệu 500 ngàn. Tượng Đức Mẹ đã được hai ân nhân ẩn danh dâng cúng 1 triệu đôla và đã được đặt khắc bên Ý. Riêng tại cộng đoàn chúng ta, số tiền hứa đã lên tới 1 triệu 700 ngàn, và tiền đóng đã được 1 triệu 350 ngàn. Tạ ơn Thiên Chúa. Xin anh chị em hòa tất lời hứa để địa phận sớm có được số tiền của chúng ta khi xây dựng linh đài. Nếu mọi sự thuận tiện, Linh Đài Đức Mẹ sẽ cùng khánh thành trong ngày địa phận khánh thành Nhà Thờ Chính Tòa ngày 17 Tháng Bảy năm Nhiều gia đình đã dâng cúng cho Linh Đài. Chúng ta cùng nhau kết thúc số tiền hứa để công trình xây dựng không bị dán đoạn. Đây là lúc con cháu tri ân cha mẹ ông bà để tên của các ngài có dưới chân Đức Mẹ mỗi khi có người thăm viếng đọc kinh cầu nguyện. Xin nhớ cho là để được khắc tên dưới chân Đức Mẹ, địa phận xin đóng góp số tiền tối thiểu là $3, Xin anh chị em liên lạc với các cha hay văn phòng nếu anh chị em muốn dâng cúng. Xin cầu nguyện cho mọi sự thuận lợi cho dân Việt Nam của chúng ta. Tuần này chợ nhỏ mang lại cho Giáo Xứ và chương trình Mẹ La Vang số tiền $3, Cám ơn rất nhiều gia đình anh chị em đã chở những ống lon, và ve chai đến căn Nhà Xã Hội để đóng góp cho chương trình giúp đỡ người nghèo. Khi có nhiều ông lon và quà tặng cần chuyên chở, xin liên lạc với Ông Chủ Tịch Ngân tại số hay Anh Quang tại số Cám ơn Ông Bà Ái, Ông Hùng, Sơ Nụ, chị Lành, chị Mai, chị Ngát, và các chị thiện chí đã đến lựa chai, lựa lon. Cám ơn Anh Chị Bài đã tặng chiếc Xe Xã Hội, nhờ đó A. Quang, A. Ngân, A Ninh, A Khiết đã chuyên chở hàng cho chợ nhỏ, thu nhận lon và bán lon cho cộng đoàn. Số tiền dành cho người nghèo do việc bán lon trong tháng Bảy được $923.07, tháng Tám được $1,034.52; tháng Chín được $ Chân thành cám ơn anh chị em rất nhiều. Chúng ta ghi danh để có thẻ Costco, Family Fitness, Sam s Club, hay AAA s, để có những quyền lợi trong cuộc sống. Trong đời sống tinh thần, chúng ta đã thuộc về Giáo Hội Công Giáo qua Giáo Xứ Blessed Sacrament, vậy xin anh chị em vui lòng ghi danh để trở thành phần tử của giáo xứ. Xin anh chị em vui lòng xử dụng phong thư trong các đóng góp cho giáo xứ và giáo phận. Những bông hoa chung quanh nhà thờ là để trang trí và tôn vinh Thiên Chúa, Đức Mẹ và các thánh.
