It is a season when Christians celebrate Jesus Christ being shown forth or manifested (epiphanized) to all humankind as Saviour of the world. 9 4. FILIPINO CELL GROUP Our Filipino Cell Group meets regularly every 1st and 3rd Sunday at 8am at Rebecca Room (3.1). INDONESIAN CELL GROUP Our Indonesian Cell Group meets regularly every 2nd and 4th Sunday at 8am at Rebecca Room (3.1). A CHRISTMAS 2017 A Christian Outreach & Concerns (COSC) Ministry initiative Thank you for your generous donation toward the Christmas Tree gift tags for the Gift@Christmas event in December We also thank the many volunteers who helped in the distribution of the gift hampers to needy elderlies and vouchers to needy children during the Christmas season. Over 2 Saturdays in December, we distributed these gifts to more than 400 needy elderlies and children within Ang Mo Kio. Through your generosity, the Church was able to demonstrate God s love and concern for those less fortunate within our community. Floral Donation We thank Sylvia Chua (in memory of Tan Soon Neo) for today s flowers. 14 CHRISTIAN OUTREACH AND SOCIAL CONCERNS 15. RECRUITMENT FOR VOLUNTEER TUTORS & COORDINATORS FOR TUITION PROGRAM 2018 The Christian Outreach and Social Concerns (COSC) Ministry is thankful for the volunteer tutors who have responded to the call to provide free academic coaching for students in the Pre-school, Primary and Secondary levels in The COSC plans to continue building a sustainable Tuition Program in 2018 in these areas: a) A Language & Literacy program targeted at Pre-School children b) An Academic Coaching program for Primary School students focusing on Math and English c) An Academic Coaching program for Secondary School students focusing on Math and English d) A self-sustaining volunteer-run tuition program. We appeal for volunteers to come forward to partner with us and support these needy students within our Ang Mo Kio Community. The program schedule is as follows: Pre-School and Primary Level sessions will be held on Saturdays from 10.00am to 12.00pm, starting from 13 Jan Secondary Level Sessions will be on either Wednesdays or Thurdays from 8.00pm to 9.30pm, starting from 17 Jan Sessions will be held at our church premises during school terms. More than 88 students have already registered for the program for

15 CHRISTIAN OUTREACH AND SOCIAL CONCERNS Volunteer tutors will need to commit to serve in any of the following, for at least 6 months: Teaching of Language and Reading, or Teaching of English or Math - Primary level or Teaching of English or Math - Secondary level or In addition, we are also appealing for coordinators who will assist us in the following: Performing logistic and administrative tasks to support the tuition program. Youth who have just completed their A-levels and Polytechnic education are welcome to serve. 16 CHRISTIAN OUTREACH AND SOCIAL CONCERNS 16. MWS Senior Activity Centre Teck Ghee Vista OPEN HOUSE 9th Feb 2018 (Friday) 1 pm 5 pm In partnership with Methodist Welfare Services (MWS), AMKMC (TRAC) embarked on a landmark new initiative the Teck Ghee Vista SAC to extend God s love through our direct participation and engagement with the elderly in Ang Mo Kio community. Located at Blk 307D, Ang Mo Kio Ave 1, the SAC is a drop-in centre providing a platform for social and recreational activities for the elderly residents within the vicinity of Teck Ghee Vista. The SAC, which started operations from 3 rd Oct 2016 will be holding its Official Opening on Fri, 9 th Feb An Open House from 1 to 5 pm will be organised for Church members to visit the Centre and learn about its activities. All Church members and worshippers are invited to this Open House, beginning with lunch at 1pm. If you are joining us for lunch on the day, please register at the information counter for catering purposes. Closing date for registration is Sunday 14 January. (Transport via charter bus will be provided from Church to the SAC leaving at pm.) (NOTE: For existing AMKMC SAC Volunteers, please register directly for the event at the SAC.) 17 CHRISTIAN OUTREACH AND SOCIAL CONCERNS Teck Ghee Vista SAC - Additional Information The SAC caters to Seniors multi-dimensional needs with programs that fosters friendship and human connection, as well as promoting health and wellness. A distinguishing feature of the Teck Ghee Vista SAC is a gym with speciality equipment from Finland designed for seniors exercises. It features a computerized system for automated reporting for individual safe training with pneumatic resistance. Research has shown that strength training is one of the most important element of exercise for seniors over the age of 65. Operating Hours: Mondays to Fridays - 9am to 12nn and 2pm to 5pm Closed on Saturdays, Sundays & Public Holidays Be A Member Seniors (55 years & above) are welcomed to join the daily activities, as well as to fellowship and extend our Christian love to residents. Be A Volunteer Come and join us in this community project and be part of the team. Volunteers of all ages are required. Be a volunteer in any of the following areas: Prepare morning/afternoon tea and snacks Befriend seniors during the tea sessions & activities Conduct activities regular or ad-hoc e.g.: Art & Craft, Book Club, Cooking, Computer Appreciation, Exercise Workouts, Gym Co-ordinator, Line Dancing, Singing 17
