(Psalm 100:1, 4) Usually the congregation is given a specific time period, with a common theme of petition or supplication. Then all pray aloud at the same time in the power of the Spirit. (United Methodist Book of Worship 1992, pg 446) PRAYER SILENT & INTERCESSORY PRAYER But the LORD is in his holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him. (Habakkuk 2:20) TIME FOR WATCHING THE LORD I will stand at my watch; I will look to see what he will say to me. (Habakkuk 2:1) What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together, everyone has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. All of these must be done for the strengthening of the church.
