Fifty days after Easter is the beginning of Pentecost, a season when we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit to Christians and the birth of the Church. God the Holy Spirit is emphasized this season. MID-WEEK BIBLE STUDY BY REV ANTHONY LEE Dates > Thursdays, 3, 10, 17 & 24 August 2017 Time > 8.00pm 9.30pm Venue > Sanctuary 2 (Level 3) The Psalms contain some of the most familiar texts in the Bible. Think of Psalm 23. Yet, the Psalms are also at once very unfamiliar. With 150 Psalms, it is impossible to study the entire psalter in the space of a few weeks (or even a few months). One of the greatest losses of modern Christianity is the inability to pray authentic prayers of great grief, fear of danger, and even unrestrained anger. This is especially true in a public setting. The focus of our study these four weeks, therefore, will be examining some of the prayers of lament and deep emotions, and learn to pray in ways more true to our challenging circumstances in life. Come and study the Psalms as we re-learn to pray some of the most vulnerable prayers ever prayed in our bid to live ever more authentic lives. Pg 7

Leviticus 19:34 says, But the stranger that dwells with you shall be to you as one born among you, and you shall love him as yourself; for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God The programme includes: Lunch, a short devotion, games and fellowship time. This will enable us to foster a sense of identity and fellowship with our international friends. MARRIAGE PREPARATION COURSE 2017 The inaugural Alpha Marriage Preparation Course a requirement if you are an engaged couple who would like your wedding to be solemnised by our Pastors in late 2017 or 2018 will be conducted in August - September Details are as follows: Venue: AMKMC premises (King David Room & Amstutz Hall) Time: 9.00am 4.00pm over 2 Saturdays - 19 August & 2 September Fees: $50/- per couple for workbooks, lunches & tea breaks (to be paid upon course commencement only) The Alpha Marriage Preparation Course is a DVD-based series facilitated by Nicky and Sila Lee, co-authors of The Marriage Book and church leaders at Holy Trinity Brompton, London. OUR DEEPEST CONDOLENCES to the family of the late Mr Frederick Tan Jin Ann, who passed away on 25 July RECRUITMENT FOR VOLUNTEER TUTORS FOR ACADEMIC COACHING AND STUDENT OUTREACH PROGRAMME 2017 Volunteer tutors for secondary levels needed The Christian Outreach and Social Concerns (COSC) Ministry is thankful for the volunteer tutors who have responded to the call to provide free academic coaching for Pre-School, Primary and Secondary levels in The Ministry s current programmes include: a) A reading programme targeted at Pre-School children b) Academic coaching for Primary School students from Ang Mo Kio c) Academic coaching for Secondary School students from Ang Mo Kio The programme currently serves a total of 72 students. Since the launch of the Secondary programme in January 2017, the number of students have grown to 10 with further additions on the wait-list for the 2nd half of the year. We are currently in need of Secondary Level tutors on either Wednesdays or Thursdays from 8.00pm to 9.30pm. Sessions will be held in our Church premises Volunteers will need to commit to serve for at least six months in either of the following: Teaching of English or Math (Secondary level) Interested volunteers can sign up by completing the registration Information Counter. Our guest speaker, Mrs Chong Cheh Hoon, a trained counsellor who has been involved in family therapy for more than 20 years, will share her experience and facilitate an open discussion on how parents can use biblical truths to anchor our children and families in God.
