Derived from the Latin word Adventus, which means coming or visit," the season of Advent reminds Christians of the first coming of Jesus Christ and reminds us to anticipate the second coming of Christ. Encounter God Meeting Come together with your family and cell group for a precious time to encounter the God of restoration and healing at the Encounter God Meeting in December, with special speaker Pastor Janet Buchanan. Pastor Janet Buchanan is an anointed servant of God, ordained under John G Lake s Ministry in the USA. She served in the Methodist Church for over 30 years until God called her to pastor a church in Oklahoma City, USA and led her to minister in the nations for the last 20 years. A woman after God s heart, Pastor Janet s desire is to see the bride (the church) prepared for the Lord. Many have been blessed as she released God s word prophetically into their lives. Deliverance, healing, signs and wonders have also been witnessed in her ministry. In Singapore, she has ministered to various house groups, churches and marketplace ministries. Thus far, more than 200 men who have gone through this programme have learnt to be better men, husbands, fathers and sons. 5 PRAYER FOCUS General 1. We seek your prayers for wisdom and guidance for the LCEC which will be meeting on 29 Nov. 2. Pray for Dr Chong Chin Chung who will be consecrated as the next Bishop of the Methodist Church in Singapore on 2 Dec. May the Lord grant him wisdom, guidance and strength to provide spiritual guidance and leadership to the Methodist Church here. Please also pray for smooth transitions for the pastors who will be taking up their new postings in January. 3. Thank God for giving us many opportunities to reach out to our loved ones, the community and the nations during this Christmas season. Pray that He will fill our lives with His love that it may overflow in abundance to the people we come in contact with. 4. Commit the school holidays to the Lord and pray for times of refreshing for teachers, parents and children. 5. Now that the US presidential election is over, let us pray that God will fill the administration with His choice of people to run the country. Our congratulations to Lawrence and Mayuree Yeow on the birth of their daughter, Abigail Yeow Xin Yan, on 5 Nov 2016.
