This season highlights Christ, the Revealer of God to all people. It is a season when Christians celebrate Jesus Christ being shown forth or manifested (epiphanized) to all humankind as Saviour of the world. Pastoral Team Member Successful candidates will provide support in delivering and executing activities related to children and junior youth ministry. Successful candidates will need to work on Sunday and get a weekday off. Requirements: Compassionate, with a heart to serve and liaise with people. A team player with good interpersonal & communications skills. Meticulous, independent and able to work with minimum supervision. Minimum qualifications: Diploma/Degree in Theology/Divinity or background from Trinity Christian Center/Singapore Bible College/Trinity Theological College or equivalent Childhood/ Youth qualifications or experience in working with children and early teens. 2. Admin Executive Successful candidates will provide administrative support to Church office, Pastors and PTMs within the assigned functional area such as finance, worship service, and pastoral care. Successful candidates will need to work on Sunday (and have Monday off). Requirements: Compassionate, with a heart to serve and liaise with people. Possess skills of Microsoft Office and relevant office software tools Minimum qualifications: At least GCE A level/diploma with some working experience. 12 YOUTH MINISTRY 11. PARENTS ENGAGEMENT SURVEY Dear Parents of Youths and Teenagers, Parenting youths is indeed a fulfilling and yet challenging part of family life! On many occasions, we wished we knew what to do or desired support on this journey. We are a group of parents whose children are in the FORT Youth Ministry. We can identify with and understand this demanding parenting responsibility! Our children, the youths, deserve all our effort in nurturing them because their lives are valuable! We are currently exploring how to offer support to fellow AMKMC parents. As a church, we recognise that today s youths face many grey and complex areas in their growing up years. As parents in a community of faith, we need to support each other as we navigate through life with our youths! As a start, we would like to discover your needs and concerns as parents. 13 CHRISTIAN OUTREACH & SOCIAL CONCERNS (COSC) MINISTRY 12. RECRUITMENT FOR VOLUNTEER TUTORS & COORDINATORS FOR TUITION PROGRAM 2019 The Christian Outreach and Social Concerns (COSC) Ministry is thankful for the volunteer tutors who have responded to the call to provide free academic coaching for students in the Pre-School, Primary and Secondary levels in The COSC plans to continue building a sustainable Tuition Program in 2019 in these areas: a) A Language & Literacy program targeted at Pre-School children b) An Academic Coaching program for Primary School students focusing on Math and English c) An Academic Coaching program for Secondary School students focusing on Math and English d) A self-sustaining volunteer-run tuition program. We appeal for volunteers to come forward to partner with us and support these needy students within our Ang Mo Kio community. The program schedule is as follows: Pre-School and Primary Level sessions will be held on Saturdays from 10.00am to 12.00pm, starting from 12 Jan Secondary Level Sessions will be on either Wednesdays or Thursdays from 8.00pm to 9.30pm, starting from 16 Jan Sessions will be held at our church premises during school terms. Volunteer tutors will need to commit to serve in any of the following, for at least 6 months: Teaching of Language and Reading, or Teaching of English or Math - Primary level Teaching of English or Math - Secondary level In addition, we are also appealing for coordinators who will assist us in the following: Performing logistic and administrative tasks to support the tuition program Youths who have just completed their A-levels and Polytechnic education are welcome to serve. CHURCH-WIDE CELL WORD/PULPIT SERIES (JANUARY & FEBRUARY 2019) A DISCIPLE S HEART Our church theme for 2019 is SERVE and the book study that cells are embarking on is A Disciple s Heart. The Pulpit Series will be a supplement to the workbook. All the cell groups are studying this book together. You are strongly encouraged to purchase the book and join a Cell Group to study with us. WSCS MINISTRY 14. GC WSCS D&N TALK ON APOLOGETICS The GC WSCS Discipleship & Nurture (D&N) is organising a talk entitled, APOLOGETICS Defending our Faith. Apologetics is often a mysterious subject to many of us and through this talk, we hope many will learn why and how we can defend our faith and use it for outreach and evangelism work. This area is useful for those who want to reach the younger generation and those who pose difficult questions about the faith. We have invited a talented Music Pastor, Ps Morris Tan, who is a musician (plays piano, cello and violin), singer, trainer of choirs and missionary to lead us in worship of our loving, mighty God and to share God s Word and his experiences in mission. 16 WITNESS & EVANGELISM MINISTRY 16. A TASTE OF ALPHA WHAT IS A TASTE OF ALPHA? A 5-week journey exploring the basics of the Christian faith. WHY A TASTE OF ALPHA? Everyone should have the opportunity to explore the Christian faith, freely ask questions and share their point of view. WHO IS IT FOR? Non church-goers (please invite your family, friends and colleagues who are pre-believers) Young believers and church-goers who feel that they have not received the fundamentals of the Christian faith, or who wish to re-dedicate themselves to the Christian faith. HOW DOES THE COURSE WORK? Each session looks at a different topic surrounding the Christian faith. They explore the basics of Christianity addressing questions such as Is there more to life than this? Who is Jesus? Why did Jesus die? How can we have faith? After watching an introductory video, the participants are put together into small groups of 8 to 12 people. These groups are hosted by leaders who facilitate conversation surrounding each topic. We believe food has a way of bringing people together and opening conversations in a community. This is the reason why we provide a sumptuous tea break at every session. There is no charge for attending the course. Simply put, it is because worship leads us to serve the Lord and His people. The Traditional Service Worship & Music Ministry is made up of individuals who serve at the 8am and 5pm services and who make each Sunday s worship services possible through the contribution of their talents and time. We would therefore like to call all individuals who are passionate about serving God to join us! We are currently looking for: 8am Service Traffic Marshalls Musicians Support Singers 5pm Service Traffic Marshalls Musicians Ushers The commitment required for these roles will be about once a month. Onthe-job training will be provided. Musicians and support singers may be required to undergo auditions and/or training before serving at the various services. 18 YOUTH MINISTRY 18. TRACKERS MISSION TRIP FUND-RAISING We have two Trackers representing our church this year. They are Grace Ng and Esmanda Wong. As part of their journey of faith in the Trackers discipleship program, two teams of young people will be raising funds for their mission trips. Team Basileia, which Esmanda Wong is in, will be raising funds on 3 Feb. Team Alon, which Grace Ng is in, will be raising funds on 10 Feb. After 8 am and am service, a booth will be set up outside Sanctuary 2, at Level 3 for fundraising. If you wish to donate by cheque, cheque donations can be made to The Methodist Church in Singapore. Please also indicate Trackers 2019, the name of the Tracker you are sponsoring, and your name on the flip side of the cheque. 19 INTERNATIONAL FELLOWSHIP 19. FILIPINO CELL GROUP Our Filipino Cell Group meets regularly every 1st and 3rd Sunday at 8am at Rebecca Room (3.1). For those who are interested to join this cell group, please contact PTM Irene INDONESIAN CELL GROUP Our Indonesian Cell Group meets regularly every 2nd and 4th Sunday at 8am at Rebecca Room (3.1). Those who are interested to join are cordially invited to come and attend their regular meeting.
