Join us on Thanksgiving Day November 22 9:00 AM Advent Wreath Annual wreath-making night Bring more meaning to the Advent Season. Our gathering is Sunday, November 18, at 6:30 PM in the Cafeteria. We will wrap 25 tiny, symbolic gifts and tie them to a wreath or small tree. Each small gift corresponds to a scripture verse. This is a simple way to celebrate Advent with children. For all of them have contributed out of their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on. Our Ofrendas Our Remembrance Table As part of the celebration of Day of the Dead (November 2), Señora Lockard and our school families have set up a Remembrance Table in the Atrium, using photos and reminders of deceased relatives. In addition to photos, traditional items on the table might include a crucifix, candles, flowers (especially marigolds), incense, colorful tissue paper decorations, special foods, and sugar skulls. Ofrendas means offerings in Spanish. Stop by and learn about Catholic traditions in other parts of the world. Maybe her state in life made her realize that relying on God is the way she had survived in the past. What in our lives keeps us from this same act of faith? Based on reflections prepared by Rev. We filled a van with warm winter gear for families in need. Thank you for your generosity. Gospel Reflection The readings today center on the actions of two seemingly poor widows who show themselves to be generous, faith-filled stewards. In the eyes of the world, particularly in biblical times, widows were weak and dependent on others for their care. These widows found themselves in desperate situations, but each demonstrated strength and generosity that distinguished them from those around them. Their strength came from knowing who they are, and Whose they are. Their security came from knowing they were daughters of God and from putting their faith in Him. Their faith in God set them free to trust Him when all seemed hopeless. Their faith allowed them to be brave and generous, to think of others despite their own trials. These women saw themselves as stewards, not owners, of the resources God gave them, regardless of how much or how little they had. And acting as stewards made them gracious, generous and mighty indeed. Communion Ministers Formation update sessions The Office of Worship offers Communion Minister Update Sessions for ministers who need a mandate renewal. Our Lady of Lourdes will host an update session on Monday, December 10, from 7:00 9:00 PM in the church. There is no fee. Registration is required.
