Mass Change Please note, Friday, November 23 weekday mass is at 9:00 AM. NO 12:00 PM mass. Communion Service We offer weekday communion services Monday through Friday at 7:00 AM. The scripture readings for the day are read, and daily intentions (including your own, if desired) are offered prior to the distribution of Communion. The entire service lasts no more than 15 minutes. Start your day with us!

2 Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Women s Ministry Walking with Purpose Coffee Connect Come as you are and see what this fresh and relevant Catholic Scripture-based study for women is all about! Join us for coffee and conversation on Monday, November 26, 6:30 PM, Adult Center. Missals The Sunday Missal will be available after all masses this weekend and next. Look for the table in the Atrium. We will have a few copies of the Sunday Missal for Young Catholics also. Gift Bearers Being gift bearers for mass is a wonderful family opportunity. Gift bearers are not scheduled as we encourage all those willing to check with the sacristan to see what needs to be done at any given liturgy. Willingness to fill in the missing spaces on our liturgical ministry list is a wonderful example of expressing your ownership in your stewardship commitment. When you arrive prepared to participate, the entire liturgy comes alive in a new way. When you arrive, check in with the sacristan to see if there is availability to serve as gift bearers. And if it's already filled...try, try again! Be watchful! Be alert! Our gathering is Sunday, November 18, at 6:30 PM in the Cafeteria. We will wrap 25 tiny, symbolic gifts and tie them to a wreath or small tree. Each small gift corresponds to a scripture verse. 3 Gospel Reflection The readings today are in stark contrast to the joy of the approaching holiday season, warning us instead of dark times ahead and our inevitable judgment day. Daniel describes a time unsurpassed in distress since nations began and warns that many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake; some shall live forever, and others shall be an everlasting horror and disgrace. The second reading speaks of Christ who waits until his enemies are made his footstool. However, when we firmly establish for ourselves as individuals as a family and as a parish that we will give to God the first and best portion of our Time, Talent, and Treasure the warnings we read in the Scriptures today should be no cause for alarm. In fact, we can view these words as encouragement Keep Calm and Steward On, no matter what comes our way. One of the blessings of a stewardship way of life is that in challenging times, whether in our homes or workplaces or even our beloved Church itself, we can take great comfort in knowing we have a concrete plan to keep our priorities in right order. And, when we put God first in all aspects of our lives, we will experience the peace that He gives that surpasses all understanding. Learn more about the Catholic Campaign for Human Development at Communion Ministers Formation update sessions The Office of Worship offers Communion Minister Update Sessions for ministers who need a mandate renewal. Our Lady of Lourdes will host an update session on Monday, December 10, 7:00 9:00 PM in the church. There is no fee. Registration is required. Men s Prayer Group Men of the parish are invited to start the day with scripture and fellowship on Thursday mornings. Join the group at 6:15 AM in the Cafeteria. We will resume November 29. The morning concludes with a communion service. We are finished and on our way by 7:15 AM. Join us! 4 Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Louisville, KY Advent Giving Tree Stop by the Advent Giving Tree table in the Gathering Space, starting Thanksgiving weekend, November 24 25, to pick up a donor request card. This Christmas Season, Lourdes will be supporting three organizations that need our help, Sister Visitor Center, St. John Center, and House of Ruth. Pick up a green donor card and help make it a wonderful Christmas for the families served by the Sister Visitor Center. Sister Visitor Center and St. John Center are asking for NEW items this year. They've requested NEW clothing for infants, toddlers and children, as well as NEW toys, games, puzzles, and storybooks. NEW sheet sets for all sizes of beds are needed. Pick up a red donor card and bring back a NEW hooded sweatshirt for a homeless man, served by St John Center. Large sizes are needed, details will be on the donor request Sizes needed are on the card. Pick up a yellow donor card and help stock the Toiletry Pantry at House of Ruth. These personal care supplies are needed by women and families affected by HIV/AIDS. Please return all gifts unwrapped to the appropriate bins no later than 12:30 PM on Sunday, December 9. We need of drivers to make deliveries to the three organizations on Monday December 3 and/or Monday, December 10. AED Automated External Defibrillators We have multiple AED devices available on our campus in case of emergency. These are located in the back hallway at the Parish Office, on the wall in the Atrium, in the Gathering Space near the Usher Closet, and in the 2 nd floor school hallway near the display case. Please do not hesitate to use these devices if necessary they are simple to use and contain written and verbal instructions. New Year s Eve Make plans now! Tickets are available now at the Parish Center, and are $40 per person before December 16; $50 per person after that. Each ticket includes two drinks, snacks, party favors, and champagne toast (21+ only). Placement Test for Catholic High School Students in 8 th grade who wish to attend a Catholic high school next year are required to take the Catholic high school placement test. The test is scheduled on Saturday, December 8, 9:00 AM 12:30 PM. Students take the test at the Catholic high school they plan to attend and should bring two #2 pencils. There is no charge. If inclement weather cancels the test on December 8, it will be rescheduled for the following Saturday, December 15 at the same time.
