2 Page 2 Foothills Connection Stewardship for 2019 Budget Year Fall is a wonderful me to reflect on the benefits of our labors and also to give thanks to God for the gi's he has bestowed upon us. As we recognize what has been given to us, we need to also give back. We call this me of giving back, stewardship. As good stewards, we take care of our family, our homes, our work and our environment. Our church is a significant part of our lives and requires our a%enon. We do this in the form of a pledge. Please be prayerfully thinking about how you d like to give back to God and your church family. Our church does so much to enrich our lives. Current Sermon Series - October 21-November 25 Sanctuary The concept of sanctuary is an important part of our Judeo-Chrisan tradion. The concept of sanctuary has mulple layers; physical, theological, spiritual, and philosophical yet frequently our working defini- ons of sanctuary are rather one dimensional. At a me where more people are arculang a desire/need for sanctuary from the upheaval they feel in our society, this sermon series is designed to help us understand the concept of sanctuary broadly and deeply FINANCIAL REPORT Sept 2018 YTD 2018 INCOME Budgeted Operations $29,500 $265,500 Actual Contributions Operations $29,742 $271,361 Capital Campaign $2,255 $23,685 Designated $3,738 $51,298 Total $35,735 $346,344 EXPENSES Budgeted Operations $29,537 $265,833 Actual Operations $30,912 $250,923 Budget vs Actual ($1,375) $14,910 Operational Income less Exp. ($1,170) $20,438 In Memory Hermann Schier passed away on October 2, 2018 a'er a prolonged illness. A memorial service was held on Sunday, October 28 at Foothills UMC to celebrate Hermann s life. Please connue to hold his loved ones in your prayers as they mourn their loss. Hermann will be missed. The Genius of Generosity Kansas pastor Jack Wellman has been credited with the insight that there is a certain genius in generosity. He explains that when we open our hands figuravely speaking to allow something to pass through our fingers, rather than holding it with ghtly clenched fists, God can give us new blessings. God cannot pour more into hands that are already clinging ghtly to what they hold, says Wellman. Whether material goods or me, ideas or talents, money or energy, the gi's God has given us so generously are to be shared just as freely with others. With our hands connually open to receive, give and receive again, God s genius cycle of generosity goes on and on.
