I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. Do you believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God? I believe in Jesus Christ, God s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and was buried; he descended into hell. On the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty, from thence he shall come to judge the living and the dead. Do you believe in the Holy Ghost? I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AT WESTGATE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - On Monday, November 12 there are a variety of volunteer opportunities at Westgate Elementary School, our partner school. While Monday is a Federal holiday (Veterans Day), school will be in session. You can assist classroom teachers, help out in the library or the computer lab, work with art/music teachers, or work outdoors in the garden. There are three 2-hour time slots, , and 1-3, and you can sign up on-line to volunteer with the Westgate community and others from Lewinsville. THE ADULT CLUB - will meet on Sunday November 18 at 12:45 at the Peking Imperial Restaurant, 6827 Redmond Drive, McLean. Contact Jean Mertz, with any questions. COLLEGE CARE PACKAGES - College can be an exciting yet stressful time in a person s life, especially during exam time. Lewinsville Presbyterian would like to send each Lewinsville Presbyterian college student a care package to encourage them during this stressful test season. Small boxes and a list of college students are located in St Andrews Hall. If you are interested in making a care package, please pick up a box, sign up for a student, and return the box by November 25. If you have any questions, please ask Rev. Annamarie Groenenboom. 11 COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING DINNER - Thursday, November 22, 12 noon- 2:00 p.m., Lewinsville Retirement Residence, 1515 Great Falls Street, McLean (Parking at Lewinsville Presbyterian Church, 1724 Chain Bridge Road) We hope you will spend part of your day with your church family as we invite new and old friends to our table. We continue to welcome young adults, including college and graduate students, singles, families and our elderly who are far from home or without family. Plan on joining us as we host a celebration of gratitude with delicious food and friendship. We have plenty of volunteer opportunities for those who are able to help including flower arranging, table setting, serving, donating food items, providing music and more. We also welcome financial support to offset the costs of the dinner. Come and join the National Capital Presbytery s Disaster Relief Assistance Network s adult volunteer rebuild trip and partnership with Presbyterian churches and their communities in Puerto Rico. Who: Adults (18 years and older). What: Volunteer work trip to rebuild and build partnerships. Where: La Posada de Ángeles; Añasco, Puerto Rico. When: Monday, Dec. 31, 2018 Wed. LOOKING FOR SOPRANOS - Lewinsville s Chancel Choir is looking for women interested in joining the choir. The chancel choir rehearses weekly on Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 9:00 pm and sings frequently for the 11:00 am Sunday service. Music is an essential role in worship and added female sopranos will help strengthen the glorious sound of our choir and help lift and inspire our congregation.
