At one of the stations you may kneel on the cushion, sit in the chair, or choose to stand. If you have a particular prayer request, please let the pastor or elder know. We have more and more to pick from at the supermarket, and we can forget those who face hunger on a regular basis. Our sense that we are your favorites causes us to make fun of those we believe are not. We can be so consumed with storing up for the future, that we ignore those who have too little today.

7 Forgive us, God, for thinking that we are the center of your world. Pour your living water into us, so we might send down our roots into your heart. Help us to become people who are blessings to others, just as we have been blessed with new life from Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, in whose name we pray, Amen. Susan Kendall and family on the death of her mother, Geraldine Willcuts, on January 14 at the age of 95. A Celebration of her life is planned for March 16 in Newberg, Oregon. 12 OPPORTUNITIES FOR MISSION WINTER IN THE CITY - Sweaters, jackets and coats, caps, and flannel shirts in good condition are needed for Christ House patients and the homeless men who use the Unity Health Care shower room at Christ House. New men s underwear and socks are especially needed for shower program users who must have new underwear in order to visit the Christ House/UHC medical staff. Unity Health Care also distributes blankets from its van on cold nights to homeless men and women living on the streets of Washington. Used blankets, in reasonable condition (frayed or missing binding is OK) are greatly needed. Your warm blanket could make a life and death difference! If each LPC pledging unit provided one used blanket from its household, we would have approximately 350 blankets. Just one pair of socks, a package of men s underwear, or an outgrown sweater will bring comfort and warmth to one of the poorest of Christ s children. Please be generous in your giving throughout the cold winter months. Please place your winter gift of warmth in the boxes located in the Volunteer Room. Here s an opportunity to volunteer with Habitat in our own backyard. The next workday for the Fairfax Interfaith Coalition for Habitat (FICH) with Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia is Saturday, February 23, 8:45-3:00. We will be working on a new single family home in the Route 1 corridor of the Alexandria portion of Fairfax County. Volunteers supply their own lunch and Habitat supplies water and tools. 13 OPPORTUNITIES FOR EDUCATION CHRISTIAN EDUCATION CLASSES The Continuing Discussion: Reclaiming Jesus Led by Linton Brooks with Pastor Scott Ramsey in the Chapel. In mid-2018 a group of two dozen ecumenical leaders (primarily Protestant) issued Reclaiming Jesus: A Call to Faith in a Time of Crisis. The document was organized around six We Believe statements of scriptural belief, each followed by a Therefore We Reject statement opposing particular trends in current American politics. Using a nine-lesson curriculum, Pastor Scott Ramsey and Linton Brooks led an adult education discussion of the statement in November and December, hoping to be able to condense the material to allow completion in only six sessions. The richness of the material and the high quality of the discussion made that impossible, so we will use the short February module to complete our discussion. February 17 Crist s servant leadership rejects authoritarianism and demands democracy. Bringing Mark s Story of Blind Bartimaeus Alive Led by Rachel Russell in the Library. Midrash is an ancient Jewish method of exploring scripture. It is an interpretive act, a creative way of reading the scripture, that allows us to be personal with the story, craft new stories, and make connections between stories in scripture and ourselves and our world. What happens next? What happened to the people on the edge of the story? Where can you relate? Can you find connections? We re going to spend three weeks on Mark 10:46-52 and see what we discover. OPPORTUNITIES FOR FELLOWSHIP YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY GAME NIGHT - On February 22, the Young Adult Ministry at LPC will sponsor its 1 st Young Adult Game Night of the year. At 7pm, everyone in their 20s and 30s are invited to enjoy fellowship and board/card games in the Chapel. There will also be snacks and refreshments. We can t wait for a little competitive fellowship time! LEWINSVILLE'S CHOIRS - will be singing at Lewinsville Retirement Residence on Sunday, February 24, 3:30-4:00pm. 14 HOLY HAPPY HOUR RECITAL SERIES Lewinsville s second Holy Happy Hour Recital Series is Wednesday, February 27, 6:15 p.m. and features Nicholas Quardokus, organ scholar, St. Paul s Parish, Washington, DC in a thirty minute musical offering followed by wine, hors d'oeuvres, and Christian fellowship. The concert is free and open to the public and a good will offering to support the music department will be taken. SECOND SATURDAY SET - will be at Creative Cauldron on February 9 enjoying Thunder Knocking on the Door. LOST SHEEP PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY - The Lost Sheep Prayer Shawl Ministry provides the opportunity for knitters and crocheters of all skill levels to create shawls and lap robes to provide spiritual comfort and warmth wherever there is a need. We meet on the 1 st and 3 rd Mondays of the month in the chapel between 10:00am-12:00noon. Knitters of all skill levels are welcome. If you are a beginner or need help getting started, our pool of talented knitters is there to help! Drop-ins are welcome! Those who cannot attend meetings are welcome and encouraged to be part of the Prayer Shawl Ministry.
