Mk 6:31 As the Catechism of the Catholic Church explains, In the most Blessed Sacrament of the Eucharist the body and blood, together with the soul and divinity,, of our Lord Jesus Christ, therefore, the whole Christ is truly, really, and substantially contained. This presence is called real - by which is not intended to exclude the other types of presence as if they could not be real too, but because it is presence in the fullest sense: that is to say, it is a substantial presence by which Christ, God and man, makes himself wholly and entirely present. In the Garden of Gethsemani, before His crucifixion, Jesus asked His Apostles, Could you not keep watch with me for one hour? Spending one hour with Jesus thus became a tradition in the Church. Every First Friday of the month we will begin Devotions to the Sacred Heart of Jesus at 5:30 p.m. St. Vincent de Paul In the Gospel today, we hear the good news that when we keep our focus on God and serve one another, God exalts us! As you donate your gift to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul please say a special prayer for the poor who have no one to pray for them.

Special Thanks A special Thank you goes to the ladies of Pro-life Nora Wisely, Amber Wisely, Angie Berg, Kathryn Lopez, Liz DeGraff, Betty Sliva, Carol Spawn and Rita Young- for the great job they did for Adopt a Highway clean-up on Rt 68 on behalf of the unborn and elderly. They filled 41 bags of trash. The greatest find was a Divine Mercy card from our church for Mary Julia Judy Little to Please remember her in your prayers and take a moment to thank these ladies for representing St. Mary in such an active way in the community. The next clean-up will be in March. We need more volunteers! Thanksgiving Dinner We are preparing for our annual community Thanksgiving Dinner On Thursday, November 23, 2017 Floyd and Company BBQ 420 E. Beale St. 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Items needed: You may drop items off at parish center or bring to Mass Turkeys Dressing Gravy Green Beans Cranberry sauce Boxed Mashed Potatoes Jail Ministry It s that time of year when we start colleting items for the Jail Ministry Christmas Gift Project. So look around and notice if you have any appropriate men s and women s magazines, (please no gun, hunting, or provocative magazines), religious magazines, spiritual reflection books, prayer cards, playing cards, paperback books( Novels, mysteries, or classical), New Christmas cards, Little Debbie cakes, individually wrapped candy ( NO candy canes) Please drop off items at the parish center Watch the bulletin for dates of preparation We need your help! Our Daily Bread Thanks to your generous donations year to date we have made and distributed 31,708 sandwiches. Since the inception of Our Daily Bread 113,431 sandwiches have gone to feed those in need. We are in need of peanut butter, jelly, tuna and canned chicken.
