Mk 6:31 The Most Blessed Sacrament Day and night, Jesus dwells in the Blessed Sacrament, because you are the most important person in the world to Him. Beneath the Sacred Host, Christ is contained; The Redeemer of the World. You grow spiritually with each moment you spend with Jesus. Our essential commitment in life is to grow spiritually in the climate of the Holy Eucharist. When you get to Heaven, Jesus will spend all of eternity thanking you and loving you for your fidelity in spending one specific hour each week with Him in the Blessed Sacrament. This is why He says, Blessed are they who have not seen, yet believe. In the Garden of Gethsemani, before His crucifixion, Jesus asked His Apostles, Could you not keep watch with me for one hour? Spending one hour with Jesus thus became a tradition in the Church. Every First Friday of the month we will begin Devotions to the Sacred Heart of Jesus at 5:30 p.m. First Sunday of Lent In today s Gospel, Jesus overcomes the temptations to wealth, power and esteem. As we begin Lent, may we open our hearts to the grace of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Your almsgiving to St. Vincent de Paul will help the poor to celebrate the grace of God s love this Paschal.

5 Our Daily Bread Thank you for your continued Support of our sandwich ministry. We have made and distributed 5,703 sandwiches year to date and since its inception 124,574. ST. MARY ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH - KINGMAN, AZ Church Regulations Regarding Fast and Abstinence Abstinence from meat (beast or fowl) is to be observed by all Catholics fourteen years old and older on Ash Wednesday and on all the Fridays of Lent. This obligation prohibits the eating of meat, but not eggs, mild products, or condiments of any kind, even though made from animal fat. We are in need of : Relish Mustard Tuna Chicken You may drop your donation off at the parish center. Thank you once again! Suggestions to help make Lent more meaningful 1. Attend Daily Mass 2. Read Scripture Daily 2 chapters from the Old Testament, 2 from the New, and 1 psalm 3. Join a ministry commit for a year 4. Go to Confession regularly 5. Say the family rosary daily 6. Attend Stations of the Cross Friday at 11:00 a.m. 7. Make a Holy Hour 8. Read about the Lives of the Saints 9. Practice the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy 10. Abstain from meat on Wednesdays as well as Fridays Fasting means limiting oneself to one full meal on a given fast day. Catholics who are eighteen years of age but not yet fifty-nine are obliged to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. On fast days, two additional smaller meals are permitted if necessary to maintain strength. However, the two smaller meals together may not equal one full meal, Moreover, eating solid foods between meals on fast days is not permitted. Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger (Pope Benedict XV1) once wrote that the purpose of Lent is to keep alive in our consciousness and our life the fact that being a Christian can only take the form of becoming a Christian ever anew. Christians need the power to stand fast against the natural tendency to let themselves be carried along. We would also like to have a faith sharing team to come and share their faith journey with the young people. Providing snacks or foods from different cultures would also be very much appreciated.
