SUNDAY AFTER THE EXALTATION OF THE CROSS EPISTLE READING: GALATIANS 2:16-20 Nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of]the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified. But if, while seeking to be justified in Christ, we ourselves have also been found sinners, is Christ then a minister of sin? May it never be! For if I rebuild what I have once destroyed, I prove myself to be a transgressor. For through the Law I died to the Law, so that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. STEPHEN S 50TH JUBILEE CELEBRATION ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2018 Our celebration will begin with a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at 1:00 p.m. at our Cathedral of Saint Stephen with His Grace, Bishop JOHN (Pazak) as the main celebrant. Coming from our sister Eparchy of Parma will be His Grace, Bishop MILAN (Lach) to concelebrate along with our Eparch Emeritus and Protosyncellus Bishop GERALD (Dino). Moreover, we will receive His Excellency, Most Rev. Thomas Olmsted, the Roman Catholic Bishop of Phoenix, at our historic festivities. The clergy of our parish and eparchy will assist. Following the Divine Liturgy, there will be a no-host social hour at 3 p.m. in the parish hall and the dinner will start at 4 p.m. The Jubilee Dinner will be catered. You are highly encouraged to set aside this great day to celebrate this important event in the history of our cathedral parish and our eparchy. For those among us who cannot take part at this milestone of our parish and the Byzantine Catholic Church in America, a Vigil Vesperal Liturgy will be served on Saturday, September 29 at 4 p.m. Confessions will be heard at 3 p.m. Please note that there WILL NOT be a Divine Liturgy at 9 a.m. on Sunday, September 30. HELPING OUR MEN TO BECOME BETTER CHRISTIAN MEN: St. Stephen s Men s Group All of our male parishioners from age 18 forward are invited to enjoy the biweekly Tuesday evenings with our Men s Group. This Tuesday, we hope to see you at 7 p.m. in the cathedral for prayer and then together we go to the parish hall for our second half of our program. Last Tuesday, our men present bravely tackled the challenge of applying chapters 1 and 2 of Pope Francis apostolic exhortation Gaudete and Exsultate ( Rejoice and Be Glad ) to their lives and the communities that they belong to. Now, we move to chapter 3 and possibly chapter 4. Missed out on last Tuesday? No problem: catch up on reading chapters 1 to 3 of the exhortation at and come join us! CALLING ON OUR ALTAR SERVERS FOR THE ARIZONA ROSARY CELEBRATION All Altar Servers from our Cathedral parish are invited and encouraged to attend the

6 Arizona Rosary Celebration on Sunday, October 21, 2018, at the Phoenix Convention Center from 2:00 p.m. until 4:15 p.m. Before the event, at 11:00 a.m., our squad of altar servers will checkin and have a Pizza Lunch at the Phoenix Convention Center. After the celebration, they will be available for pick up by parents at the Convention Center. All servers are asked to bring their own vestments (see Fr. Diodoro or Fr. Rojas if you need to borrow them to participate in this event). Attired in their vestments, our intrepid squad of altar boys lead Bishop Olmsted s Entrance Procession as one of the most impressive features of the celebration. After the celebration, every server in the procession will be given a Miraculous Medal that has been blessed by His Holiness, Pope Francis. If you or your son(s) who serve at the altar would like to participate, please get a sign-up sheet from Fr. Rojas and return the completed sheet to Mr. Anthony Kinyon, our Altar Server Coordinator.
