4 Saint Basil s will be participating in Hurricane Harvey Relief in two ways. For the next four weeks, will will hold a drive for the following items: diapers, baby wipes, baby formula, backpacks and duffel bags, full size toiletry items, non-perishable food (Ensure drinks, meal-replacement protein bars), single-serving powdered Gatorade (this can easily be put in a bottle of water and is easier to carry), or Gatorade Chews, canned dinners (such as Dinty Moore Beef Stew), new and unused children s toys and games (preferably small to build a relief backpack for a child), and children s packable cribs or playpens. NO CLOTHING! Fr. Joseph will oversee the collection and disbursement of these items to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Dallas which is spearheading a larger drive. Secondly, we ask that you consider a cash donation to Catholic Charities through the Dallas noting that the donation is from a Saint Basil s parishioner and is to be used for Hurricane relief. The link to donate funds online is HERE. We all have a responsibility to foster future leaders of the Church, priests, sisters, deacons, and laity alike, dedivated to serve God s people. One way we can all be involved in vocation ministry is through prayer. Next Sunday begins a special effort of the Prayer for Vocations for all of the Byzantine Catholic Churches in the United States. This effort will begin with a special program of prayer on that day for the Pilgrim Vocation Icon. Everyone of the parish is invited to have this icon in their home for a week of special prayer for vocations. Please sign up on the sheet that is posted in the Narthex.
