WAVERLY, MN From The Desk of The Pastor Dear Parishioners: Saturday September 29th is the Feast of the Archangels, St. Michael, St. Gabriel, and St. Raphael. Angels are spiritual beings with great intelligence, great strength, and with great Holiness. Like us, they are called to serve God and neighbor. They are God s messengers, and they help us in so many ways, including bringing us messages from God. When an important message is to be conveyed, it is always delivered by an Archangel. Michael means, Who is like God. He has the strength of God to do battle with Satan and all evil angels. He is the protector of the Church. He is the patron saint of police officers. Gabriel means, God has shown Himself mighty. Gabriel announced the birth of John the Baptist to Zechariah. He also announced to the Blessed Virgin Mary, that she would bear a son by the power of the Holy Spirit. He is the patron saint of communications workers. Raphael means, God has healed. He guided Tobit on a journey and he healed the blindness of Tobit. He is patron saint of travelers. Let us seek the intercession of the Archangels to have God s protection, strength, and healing. The tuck point project on the outside of the main sanctuary building has been completed (we are sure that you have noticed the improvement); insulation in the roof above the sanctuary is proceeding; a contract for the painting of the sanctuary and structural work on the bell towers has been sourced and work will commence after the 1st of the year; a contract for the refinishing of the pews in the sanctuary has also been sourced and this work will begin shortly after the 1st of the year; bids for carpeting and tiling (under the pews) in the sanctuary are being evaluated and a decision should be made shortly; and, work on the Fireside Room is proceeding and completion is expected in the very near future. We thank our volunteers who have been working on each of these projects. And, we thank you for your generous support and prayers for the capital campaign. Catholic Extension The Fall 2018 issue of Catholic Extension s magazine, Extension, recognizes the importance of building faith communities during ths difficult time for the Catholic Church. The church is located at 230 Center Ave S in Montrose (next to the community center) and is handicap accessible. Food offerings include appetizers, salads, hot dishes, desserts & beverage. Rest in peace Joseph. 16th Annual Candlelight Rosary Procession In honor of Our Lady of Fatima, join us for the annual Candlelight Rosary Procession on Friday, October 5, led by Archbishop Bernard Hebda. Gather at the State Capitol at 6:30 p.m. The procession to the Cathedral of Saint Paul begins at 7 p.m. Those who cannot walk the route may go directly to the Cathedral to pray the Rosary. St. Pope John Paul II called Serra the" Vocation Arm of the Church." We support and affirm our priests,deacons, religious and those in religious formation. The Serra Club of Wright County will meet at the Kings House in Buffalo on Thursday, October 11. Our meeting will start with a rosary in the Chapel at 5:10 followed by a prayer service at 5:30.
